Ashes of Creation is where I am putting my hope, but the real test will be how the new revamped combat looks. Augments, artisan professions, more node systems and naval content after that, will all be the cornerstones of the next big progress or failure we see come to pass. I truly hope things go well, hold your breath but not for too long and make sure to not set your expectations too high. But set your hopes in the stars.

  2. Great job on the video! I do think there is a lot of younger gamers out there that have never tried MMOs, considering the average MMO player age is 36. If Ashes can pull in the newer generation it could be massive.

    The best thing about that is the newer generation doesn't have preconceived ideas of what an MMO is. In other words they don't think MMOs all have to be direct copies of WOW.

  3. I feel so sorry for "kids" like you, who never got to play the old games. It was amazing growing up with the ever evolving games, without pay to win, without pay for convenience garbage. Discovering new worlds with your friends is one of the most amazing feelings one can experience in a game, another being progressing a new raid, felling an enemy after days or weeks of trying. In games like Lineage 2 with the old school PvP system (open world pvp, PK system, guild wars, castle sieges) you could experience another amazing thing, having real enemies, not NPC's, but other players. Imagine spending hours yelling, raging as you battle your arch enemy in the game, sure it's crazy, but after a while, those moments of genuine emotional investment become the best moments you'll remember forever.

    No. Old school mmo's and their systems are a niche market these days, they are mostly meant for the boomers you mentioned. I hope Ashes becomes one of the biggest mmo's, but it becoming the biggest one? Not a chance. People are too spoiled by the "modern" mmo's, stupidly easy mmo's without consequences. And I bet many boomers see Ashes as another cash grab, me including. I so soooo hope I'm wrong, but seeing another FOMO skin package released every month, years before release, doesn't exactly boost my morale.
