  1. He got payed to promote ….
Old mmos were all about ingame grind, fun, good community nowadays it's all business, meta, bots, swipe swipe swipe..
When one title dies go next to get milked.

  2. I completely get what you say about Vanilla Archeage, Kanon. Sadly that was an experience that lasted for too short of a time and not that many people had access to so when you talk about it, people won't understand.

Not sure if Ashes will be the game to revive those experiences but we'll see what happens. They got the philosophy, lets see if they can execute it

  3. Didn’t you just put out a video a week or so ago basically saying the game is shit and by the time it’s ready for release it will already be outdated. You guys will say anything for a couple of views.

  4. its not contradictory its more so just being hopeful because the dev was aa enjoyer it would be nice to have that game setting again to have choice to your gaming since there was legit variety to what could be done in game i.e pvp, pve, housing, guild shit, farming cough i did a shiiiit ton of illegal farming ha (doesnt dismiss that currently aoc needs some work but shit ima sell my granma if its aa vibe or even better in the end kekw)

  5. Am i missing something? I played Alpha 2 for quite a bit so far and I can't see the vision. Was mostly unenjoyable, and before anyone says it, yes I understand it's a true Alpha with a focus on stress testing rather than content/features. I'm planning on revisiting it down the road but it was not a great first impression to me.

  6. The pain of knowing what Archeage could have been… Still hearbroken about that. If AoC can deliver even fraction of the feelings I got from Archeage beta/early…Its going to be a winner in my soul <3

  7. Too little, too late. They announced it too long ago amd offered too little information iver the years. How it looks and it feels is already antiquated.
They have been trying to raise the hype lately, and they are investing in paied videos by creators like you, but i doubt it can be saved and it will be a big success for too many years once it comes out.

  8. Ok. Your main point seems to be the variety offered by ashes in contrast to games where you farm dungeons. But if you look at these “dungeon farm” games, they have the variety too. At least most do. You can still craft in those, pvp in those, plant in those, get creative with decorating a home in those. I’m not sure you’re making a good argument here.

For me what draws me to ashes is the developers making an mmo that isnt pay-to-win or pay-for-convenience. That plus open world pvp where risk/reward is the concept. Thats what defines ashes imo. Dont call it what its not.

  9. I like this take… I kinda got bored of grinding a bit this weekend. Instead i went and picked some flowers, ran a couple caravans, chilled in the node to see what mayoral buy order were and how to progress the node. Chatted with node citizens to try and inspire people to try and complete the buy order to progress our node.
It was chill and fun. went from level 14-15 all weekend and didnt even care.

  10. Archeage is in Steven's top 3 games with the other 2 being Lineage 2 and Aion. I think what you described is very possible, especially with how big the world is supposed to be and how the regional markets are supposed to work.

  11. AoC is gonna be crap … that alpha is ROUGGGHHHH. Game looks like everquest 2, plays like Morrowind on original xbox, has a bland ass world that is less interesting then the world we live in.

I hope some people get enjoyment out of it for sure… but its rrroouuuggghhhh gonna be 300k players at launch and 20k players left after a single week

  12. I think it's great for you. However these days I have even less friends then when I started gaming an not for a lack of trying so "hoping into game with my friends" thing doesn't land here. Most say to find a group, but fail to mention most groups that are friendly are casual an don't have time to actually play and learn the game. The groups that do play more, learn an become good at the game are closed off an don't want you to join and roll on their loot. Just like every other game I would end up playing alone either due to others not having time to play(kids etc.) or elitist groups that don't want new members or better yet "Guilds full for now, sorry". Sounds like good gameplay for streamers but I'm unable to see how a normal gamer could enjoy this.

  13. Me and a friend found a wide open flat piece of land in Archeage and planted a couple hundred trees. Surely a thunderstruck tree would happen, lol. We did find a couple players up there when the trees were getting done growing, so we got what we could.

  14. Of course any streamer gets hyped about a game like Ashes (like any other), first, you make money from it, either by promoting the game or by creating content, second, because it's an easy win, Ashes is a game that necessarily depends on a group which isn't a problem for a streamer, in other words, mega-guilds, monopoly, etc.

  15. ArcheAge vanilla is by far the best and yes i agreed to wat kanon said… crafting, fishing, pirating, pvp, pve, trade packs, house, watever u name it they have it. just so much different way to enjoy the game u will never feel bored.

  16. It's great that AoC is taking on similar ideas that Archeage did, but we all know the downfall of AA and many eastern MMOs was the P2W aspect. Look at how AoC approached the alpha key pricing, literally a cash grab. How can a company like this that garnered that much money from selling alpha keys not do a cash shop? It's inevitable. I guess there's nothing wrong with being excited about a new MMO but i think y'all should always be skeptical.

  17. The fact that the herd consensus is now thinking that the game is going to suck truly makes me believe that its going to surprise and succeed. The dream always was for someone to bypass the financiers and make a GOOD MMORPG again. This really could be it.
