Ashes of Creation gameplay is built to ensure that you will enjoy both PVE and PVP. Many do not like to PVP. AOC makes sure that you will need to PVP with their ever changing world. However, with an anti grief system that Intrepid Studios has put in place there isn’t much risk in place.
One of the systems that merge PVP and PVE harmoniously is the caravan system. That is a PVP element with risk. You want to make fat profits you will have to run the gauntlet. There is a good chance that you will be attacked by enemy players so you will be encouraged to PVP. Or you can hire other players or ask your guild members to protect you.
The main aspect of Ashes of Creation that encourages both PVE and PVP is the node system. This isn’t something that has not been covered but let’s discuss it anyways. First, let’s talk about the PVE / PVP side of CREATING a node. Whoever helps build up the node and how they help build it will have a direct affect on how the node is built. I THEORIZE that not only will there be an active building process, but there will be an active defense as well. If a PVP minded guild or group prefers a military node, there will likely be a brute squad chasing off the economic minded type. Or at least to the extent of what the anti griefing system will allow.
Okay so the node has been created. Let’s say it’s a military node. Well there will be node sieges. Planned and random. Say you want to have access to a certain style of dungeon that can only be accessed in that location. Or say you want that node area to bless you as a crafter. Well, when you see an announcement it’s in your interest to take that node. Take the node, and help develop the node into something that you find satisfying. It will encourage PVP so that you can PVP…..and roleplaying for extra measure.
That in a nutshell is what excites me. Ashes of creation promises to be an ever evolving that creates harmony between PVE and PVP. PVE gets you in the game. PVP keeps you in game.
