What niche is this filling? WOW Classic?
Surprised Asmon didn’t call this dogshit to be honest… how much visually can they even change at this point before launch without adding another 2-3 years and a rework

If they want this to be above the rest then solo players need to be kept in mind, in an ideal world everyone does group content but that is not realistic, and when the game gets old enough new players have no one to group up with and are missing out on a lot of dungeons, ff14 kinda fixed that but then shot itself in the foot when the best gear you can get is obtained outside of dungeons in a boring manner that means everyone at certain levels wears the exact same gear.
And that's just for ARR content, good luck queuing up to anything between that and endgame content, incredibly long queues follow up by people who don't know how to do the fight and people who do know how to do them giving up after the 2nd pull, group shouldn't be the only way to do things.
AoC has a very generic art style and i don't think they'll improve it in Beta or on release. It'll look pretty much the same but just with more classes, animations and new zones.
I agree with asmon. They need an art style that when u look at it whether its a pic, or a video you’ll go “wow thats ashes”
It's astounding to me how many people complain about the graphics in an alpha build.
They have already shown some beautiful looking zones, with insane graphics.
This showcase was focused on early stages of a world boss.
This zone is most likely gonna look just as good as the zone in the showcase of Tower of Carphin. The gameplay will also get more polish, obviously.
As a healer main, I definitely prefer unavoidable damage, it makes healers have to things like manage cool downs instead of just being a combat medic that helps the morons that stand in fire. I HATE WoW's direction of forcing healers to off DPS, most of the time you don't even feel like a healer, you feel like a shitty 2 button rotation dps that occasionally heals. I picked a healer to heal.
with the current state of the game its safe to say that we have at least 2 more years before release

MMO design is soooooo dated
Bosses are fine but I think core combat looks awful. Skill and movement animations, especially sliding, feels very very bad… I mean maybe it feels better when I try it myself, but right now I'm totally unimpressed and it looks like a 10 year old game.
And I'm nottalking about the graphics, I don't care about the pixels, I'm talking about the feeling itself.
Also camera position is totally bad, very low position. In a MMORPG where you need to watch your feet and look for some effects on the ground this is completely wrong and needs to be changed

People are too harsh. An MMO doesn't need the most insane graphics in the gaming space. It needs GOOD graphics and AWESOME community gameplay. MMOs have never been about just being pretty.

I think the game looks great. The graphics dont need to be hyper realistic to be good, they have a nice style to them. People say the korean MMOs look better, but BDO, Vindictus, Throne and Liberty, basically every korean MMO has the same generic Hyper realistic korean waifu graphics and no unique style to tell them apart.
Kind of "8 years behind". To be honest I am not into gameplay that is too similar to WoW. The more "active combat" where moves are aimed, timed, and kind of works well with physics and the AI or boss has a more dynamic targeting style. Having dedicated "tanks" needed, with dedicated healers. Taking hits and damage shouldn't be so required, and nonstop healing in turn. At the very least most damage should be avoidable with skillful, creative and intelligent players.
Boss fight was a very average experience. Compare it to 95% of the bosses in a game like Vindictus, and it is far less memorable and hype. Things just look generic visually too.

Asmons stream is always compressed as hell for whatever reason so people judging the game's looks are going to be disappointed if they're doing it secondhand through these videos. You'd have to actually go to their YouTube. Same way with FF16, looks dogwater on his stream replays, much better on PSN etc.
Looks like any other mmo Bossfight from the last 25 years.
