Ashes of Creation has just pulled off an amazing feat with their world map. We knew changes were coming to it, but I did not expect that they just showed off in the August Live Stream. Intrepid is doing a great job at keeping me hyped over here.

  1. The amount of hype I have for the map expansion is unreal. I have always voiced that the water zones seemed lacking and pathways around the world etc. Also lacking in islands. Super stoked for these changes. The PvP change was a curve ball, was not expecting that what so ever. Pretty sure I love it.

  2. I think the map needs more land mass. For example the desert region is tiny compared to the wetlands just north of it. Also I can't help but get wow vibes with the two main continent, which isn't a good thing. Still I'm really impressed with the amount of room for naval combat.

  3. In the beginning of the stream I felt like "oh… That's all?" but how Steven explained more and more details about caravans and nodes and the world map I felt like these are such good mechanics

  4. There will be a lot more pirates in the seas with these changes…seems like they must be confident in their naval combat systems and naval systems in general. This will really split the world up into the two continents in a big way and will really split the server up into the pirating/bandit/marauder types and those who live a more civilized, trade heavy lifestyle. Could make things REALLY spicy. Any resources that can only be gathered on one continent now have some NICE profit potential on the other continent. I like it…makes the world seem more alive and realistic but it actually, in some ways, makes it harder for players to dominate through pvp alone. Hoping it goes well. Trying to create a server with no resets which has so much pvp is a tough one but we'll worth a try as it stands to be one of the best games ever made if they can pull it all off.
