Originally I wasn’t going to make this video and I was just going to move on silently, however my community convinced me that it would be better for you guys to have some closure instead of constantly wondering why I stopped covering AoC.
Thank you everyone for your support these last 4 years and I hope to see you in the comments of future videos :3

EDIT: I just want to say I greatly appreciate the overwhelming ammount of support and positivity. Last time I tried to express my feelings openly (less than 2 months ago) the comments were filled with 99% negativity which kinda made me feel like shit. I'm happy to see that you guys still support me and my passion for content creation. Thank you.
Making videos for Ashes of Creation has been a life changing experience for me, it's allowed me to realise that making entertaining videos is something that truely brings me joy.
Sadly, the format of "entertaining" and "Ashes of Creation" do not seem to mix anymore, no matter how hard I try and with the direction the tests seem to be going it's going to be harder and harder for me to continue trying to make videos that genuinely bring people joy like I did in 2022.
The people who still follow and lead the game do not seem to want genuine critique or entertainment, they just want overwhelming positivity.
It's been 2 years since I felt like i was proud of a video and with the alpha actually out for all to see, it's become impossible for me to continue trying to make this game seem exciting, however, there are plenty of other content creators who cover the news and updates for you. I no longer want to do this, I want to get back to following my dream of making people laugh with my creative expression.
I wish Intrepid the best with their development and I hope Ashes of Creation becomes the MMORPG it was advertised as.
Feel free to follow the streams over at Twitch.tv/narciverse and I hope you all look forward to the returning to the old format where we can make some genuinely entertaining videos about games that actually exist.
Pay for an incomplete game and received an incomplete game…. The End
Alright I get that some think there is some scummy practices going on but at the end of the day anyone that backed this game paid for something incomplete, paid for a work in progress experience. And hey here is some solace since you've already prepaid you've paid for the "completed" game also, some time in the distant future. Really it boils down to that, I'm sure everyone that is burning out on AoC right now will be back when it is in a more complete state, maybe at that point it should be decided whether the money spent was worth it. I for one thank everyone that funded the game, cause I didn't but I hope to play it one day and everyone funding it helps make that dream come true ;D
Wow this is crazy!! You are quite literally the voice I most directly associate AoC with. Thank you for this update. As if we need more out-of-touch development executives in the gaming industry.. I want to see apologies from ceo-what’s his face.
Can I ask, as someone only vaguely paying attention to Ashes, how much of a cherry pick this bit was, or not? https://youtu.be/FS0dNgfhX78?t=501
Like, were there parts of the desert much more developed that looked anything like the 2022 stuff, or was the bit you showed fairly representative of the full desert biome?
I am asking in good faith, I genuinely don't know!
(If it was a cherry pick I don't necessarily think you were trying to deceive us either. Clearly, that area is unplayable and should not have been reachable via normal means.)
Nothing ever happens 😤
FFS! Ashes of Creation is still pretending it's going to release an actual viable product some day? That's wild. More power to you guys still hoping this isn't a scam. I'll believe it when I see it.
I don't have any questions as to why you're quitting. My only question is for those who choose to play a game made by a villain who likes to kill people's fun to begin with. The Owner of AoC ruined Archeage for thousands of people just because he wanted to be, The man".
I would never consider playing AoC because of that fact. With a villain at the head of the game it will never be a good game.
BRING BAG THE VIDEOS YOU MAKE LIKE SERIES! They were awesome!
They took a page from Star Cotizen's book 😂
Why not give Pantheon a try? Ironically, it's doing quite well in its current testing phase. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised.
lol, you have finally come to your senses
Ashes of Creation is pulling a No Man Sky business model
Dammit..at least we have star citizen… oh wait..forget that.
Finally, mate! You’ve grown out of this scammy game. You and PirateSoft are the only two creators I follow who were deeply invested in AoC, and I honestly couldn’t understand why, given what they promised versus what they delivered over the years—plus their ridiculous prices.
Just keep making gaming content with your unique touch and humor! I’d also love to see you cover MMORPG news and upcoming MMO releases in a more neutral and informative way.
Can’t wait for GW3 and RITO MMO! And I’m so ready to try (and probably get disappointed by) Chrono Odyssey, ArcheAge Chronicles, and Aion2. <3
This mmo is making money not by buy once, not by subscription but by selling hundreds of dollars foe a Alpha, so let’s seee, $120*6000suckers= $720,000, do two or three of these and you make some nice money per year.
God damn this channel is cancer.
This video sounds more like a rant and nothing more. I’m playing and enjoying this ALPHA and will continue to support the project.
You want desert, just buy New World, their Brimstone region is desert and it’s nice with windstorms, sand worm, etc…….
The secret source to this game is that “ it’s just an alpha!”
Wait, you paid 100+ to test an alpha? Isnt it usually the other way around?
My biggest surprise was logging in and realizing i had very few weapon choices (no dual wield?), and that my spellbow has the same passives as the physical version… (why can’t I leave burns or freeze chilled targets with a spellbow? Why would I ever want to use this in my ranged spot and lose all the potential synergy with my abilities?)
it's got a bit of a Camelot Unchained vibe… 🙄
There is no doubt that AoC has challenges, and I think Narc picked up on them. The problem is that I think without IT systems development experience it is difficult to put your finger on the exact problems. AoC isn't in any sort of development crisis. In fact I would even say that they are capable of a 2026 launch easily. The real problem is that they have (I believe) 3 big dilemmas in their design pillars, that mean there is no good design that can meet their goals.
1. Building nodes takes weeks/months and destroying them takes about 1.5 hours, that means the investment risk of building anything is so great, it cant possibly be balanced with the reward for knocking it down. i think they are going to have to make node player-built content indestructible, but just temporarily disabled after a successful node siege.
2. Artisan skills have the same imbalance. Because it requires so much to get to max artisan level, it becomes pretty clear that the game is going to require a mechanism for putting gear into players hands than just the artisan system. It will be years before enough players are making end game gear, and gathering enough material before the last 100 people on each node are equipped. And Artisans are not going to grind out making 100 legendary swords, once they have made enough for their raid group or even just themselves, they will go off and play the game. Unlike real life, monetary gain isn't enough to motivate supply, because money in the game doesn't really provide QoL improvements. Players aren't going to drive the economy ever, unless it is quick and easy, in which case they can't make the best gear.
3. Most gamers want a game where 100 hours of play, whether that is spread over a week or a month, gets you to the same point in the game. You can have a competitive battle game like Call of Duty, or World of Tanks, with well defined winners and losers, so that after 100 battles players are more or less in the same place. Interestingly all the complaints about those games are about the ways that isn't true. But currently, the design of Ashes more or less indicates that by design, it is a race to build nodes and then knock down anything your neighbors build. That isn't going to attract anyone but the most hard-core players. If you don't put in 100 hours a week, you are never going to get to end game. The only class you will play is Loser! The more competitive you make the game, the smaller the environment. Trying to make a huge competitive servers, isn't making the game better. Those servers are going to be empty. The more competitive a game is, and the more impact players have on each others success, the smaller the number of players in each game there must be.
I was rather hoping that Steven and Intrepid knew enough game theory, to appreciate that these are effectively paradoxical problems. They will be damned if they do and damned if they don't. They are not going to get anywhere until they start making some harsh decisions, and Narc is going to be right, even if he isn't spot on in the reasons why he is right. For us to be in phase2 and Steven/Intrepid somewhat obstinately ignoring these issues, is more than a little worrying. There are many things in Ashes of Creation worth getting excited about, but the larger principles are deeply flawed.
I have to be honest that I have uninstalled AoC from my computer. I completely agree that it is not worth following AoC until they sort out their fundamentals. In that way, I endorse Narc's decision. It is unreasonable to be optimistic at this point.
Pantheon? Haha
I'll be honest you more sound like a kid that didn't get what they wanted on xmass. You are literally complaining about people making something you could never make yourself. It's a Kickstart if you thought you were paying 200 for a AAA game then….. low IQ is on you.
As someone who programs robotics for a living you sound like a line operator complaining about how long it takes to fix something when you couldn't do it if i gave you all the time in the world.
Maybe grow up take off the wig and get a real job making something. Not just complaining about things others ARE making.
I don't care about this game and know nothing, this video was just suggested by youtube. And I want to say that desert bit was absolutely insane.
Thanks for making this video. I really do hope development goes well from this point forward
I'm sure you will be bk to play when it launches in 2030
So back to baking?
