Ashes of Creation just revealed tech that should change your mind if you are a believer that this game is star citizen fantasy edition. Intrepid showing off an integral feature like this hopefully means, we are ramping up to the alpha 2 of Ashes of Creation. Combat is the big one though, once that along with the augment system, naval content and more fleshed out artisan professions are shown. I can only imagine by that time alpha 2 will be here!

  1. This was a fantastic tech demo. I dont know their limitations but the water surface needs to change a little also. It was slightly off that the wind was cranked up yet the water surface stayed glassy. And it would be nice if, during a rain storm, the water surface would add dots.

They also mentioned during the q&a that the plants will bend and move around the character. The topic of Stealth came to mind where all you can see is the plane movement or footprints.

And finally after watching this preview I cant help but wonder how UE5 will change the combat, cant wait to check it out…

  2. Yo, I do feel like they should expand on the time between seasons instead of just a week, since they have area an other things that change around the weather won’t mean much of anything because you just just gotta wait 3 weeks a best to do it

  3. Even if the character creator is pretty much a copy paste from the UE5 assets, who cares? If it works, it works. Yeah, I know, doesn't represent the skill of the devs…
I agree that the seasons are impressive, the wind, the cloth interaction, the utilization of the weather in the gameplay aspect, all those are great, but it's still nothing major.
It's a very cool feature, definitely adding a lot to the visual aspect of the game which is very important, but I'm afraid it proves absolutely nothing. Like it or not, there are some incredible people out there, you can simply search for UE5 content on youtube, who are able to create similar breathtaking things on their own in a fraction of the time AoC has been in development.

AoC is pretty much my last hope when it comes to mmorpg's, I hope it succeeds, I hope it's everything it's aiming to be and more, but I'm still not hyped about it.
What we need to see is fun, responsive combat, we need to see the nodes progressing from nothing to a huge city with all the interactive stuff that's been promised, we need to see working events in the world, working castle sieges, we need to see the servers being able to handle all the players without causing terrible lags etc. This is what makes or breaks a game, not super cool graphics and fancy weather effects.
Also, 2:26, anyone who loves those cats, check out the Pallas's cat, you're welcome. πŸ™‚

  4. this dynamic weather is going to be amazing in Ashes, I usually kinda brush off the monthly developer streams and updates because it doesn't exactly highlight anything that would be impactful, but I found myself watching it and thinking, "damn, this sparks my imagination on so much"

  5. I might have to bump up my backers package to get into Alpha 2. The game looks pretty jacked up, both graphically and content wise.. Great video.

  6. man, sorry but who cares about weather effects, really. if the core gameplay is too convoluted and clunky, none of the flowery ideas will matter. im honestly amazed people are eating this dynamic weather system up with such vigor, its a glorified tech demo with decent looking graphics and weather. just compare this to old blizzard, imagine if 5+ years into vanilla wow development, they were releasing a flashy tech demo, while the core gameplay was still extremely clunky, and it still wasnt expected to have a full launch for another couple of years.

i hope im wrong but man mmo players really eat anything that seems ambitious right up.
