In this video I wanted to cover the bard archetype and what Intrepid’s vision for what the bard is for their game. I then did some research into what other games have had good bard gameplay and how Intrepid could potentially glean ideas from these other games.

With the Intrepid team having a DND background, I think looking at the Baldur’s Gate Bard makes a lot of sense. It is also a jack of all trades style class with the ability to provide massive utility to the party. Since ashes of creation is also a group based game, I would imagine bards in AOC would adopt a lot of similar functions.

  9. Bard has been my first choice for most of a year now. AFAIK, tho, nothing significant has been said about them in recent times. I watch a lot of AoC videos here on YT, and everyone has lists of what they expect from the updates leading up to A2. Most of the predictions seem reasonable, with recent mentions by SS & Co of upcoming topics. Sad thing is, however, that there aren't enough months, even if it starts in Sept, for all of the predictions to be covered, 1 stream and 1 topic a month. I suspect that Intrepid is going to squash a lot of the missing features/mechanics into a few streams and the in depth updates that we have been receiving are going to go by the wayside. Increasingly, it seems that Bard is going to just get an Honorable Mention somewhere along the line rather than a full stream all of it's own.

  10. I am curious though of what bards can do that potoins and food can not. Potions replinish health, stamina, and mana. Food offers ability buffs. I can see the Bard will be nore fluid in combat, but what do they bring that is unique?
