Even if the intentions from Intrepid Studios is 100% pure, this will still bring in more players into alpha 2 and again, it’s because of the experience that the people don’t want to miss out on.

What is Ashes of Creation? Ashes of Creation is a unique take on the MMORPG experience. Our world structure is dynamic, and built to react to your actions. Cities will rise and fall as you shape the world of Verra. Quests and secrets will unlock as populations gather and their needs grow. As the world’s NPC structure is established in real-time, you will have the ability to destroy what’s been created, paving the way for new developments, populations, and change. Political strife and intrigue will play a very real role in the structure of your experience. Gone are the days of static worlds; change is here to stay!
All across Verra, you have the opportunity to experience massive warfare, participate in epic trade caravans, and gather valuable components to craft exquisite items. Not only will your fellow players be your adversaries; the creatures of the land and the very environment itself will pose a constant and fresh challenge. Will you siege castles to become royalty, defeat other guilds to showcase your prowess, shape the marketplace by being a successful trader, or earn renown by developing your artisan crafting skills? This is your story, you tell us!

FOMO can make or break your personal experience. Don't jump the gun.
I think controlling the number of people getting in early is the right decision for Intrepid, but I was still sad to see that announcement. I've been just delaying A2 purchase waiting for a preferred cosmetic pack. Gonna grab it before they close it up. I am glad they announced this decision way before actually closing the purchases. Saying, "this is the last week to join" would have really rubber people the wrong way. Them closing hasn't affected my decision to buy A2, just moved up my timetable.
I’ll sell you an alpha 7 key
I have some gaming friends who are always trying to get me to play various games that they play or are looking to play. I don't always acquiesce but I've played plenty of games that they have recommended to me. On the other hand I rarely recommend games to them. Unlike them I'm not always looking to play something new. I'm pretty selective about what games I spend time playing, and I don't get caught up in the hype surrounding new games. I've mentioned a few games to them here and there over the years but I never really push. Ashes is the exception. I really believe in the game, in Steven, and in Intrepid Studios. I've made the case to them to get in on Ashes early and buy in for the Alpha II testing. At every turn it seems that they come up with some reason to take a poke at the game. Some reason that the game won't be good, or like every other crap MMO we've gotten the past ten years. All of their 'complaints' are ridiculous…most seem to be extrapolating a non existent issue that they perceive about the game into some fatal flaw. Frankly I've given up on them…however when the game drops or shortly after I'm sure that they will at least give it a try for a month. If not right away, when the buzz about the game goes viral they will break down and play. And in spite of themselves I have little doubt that they will finally get what I've been trying to tell them the entire time. At some point they are going to wish they had done what I did ages ago…buy in early. When that time comes I'm not going to be Mr. Nice Guy…I'm going repeatedly shove it in their faces and tell them that I told them so…frankly they deserve it for being so closed minded and needlessly intransigent. Sure its only testing, and yes everything will reset before official launch…but the scope of this game is going to be massive. There will be a lot to learn to become a proficient player. I want to figure out what race I to be, what class I want to be, play style, how augments work, which node type suits me best, how to efficiently make money, how to use the artisan system, where on the map I want to set up shop and start my adventure. These are all things I want to have figured out BEFORE launch. The great thing about buying in early is that there really isn't any wasted money. Most of what you spend you are getting back in playtime after launch, credits for the cosmetics store, and a few cosmetics from the pack that was live the month you bought into Alpha II. A small part of what you spent will be for the testing itself…but seeing as Alpha II will persist thru both Beta's and up to launch that could be 6-12 months of a head start on everyone who did not buy in…that's not only a big advantage IMO but also a chance to give Intrepid feedback and help shape the game. It was well worth the $250 that I paid.
"I'll be streaming Alpha 2, because….I have access" How you just gonna flex on people like that Q?
