Node biomes should come down to the type of node and play style. Northern Desert is an intersection of three biomes, so diverse crafting and traiding may be ideal. As a crafter, I am looking towards the Dunzenkell Mountains for the ores, and just south are trees and the Redwood Forest. Plus you are right on the water if it is needed.
I have plaid games in the frozen and snowbound areas, and over time, the bleak nature became depressing without any color. Hope it works out for you.

I like the idea of a node that specalizes. It doesnt need a monopoly on a product or resource, but i love the idea that someone knows your home for being that place that supplies the world with somethong specific.
