  1. i guess im one of the die hard ashes fans. I do agree with all of your points though, especially the 2025 release date being the earliest probably. Considering its already almost 2023 though…..life is moving quick. I enjoy everything they show off in their monthly livestreams so im just hoping for a good mmo!

  2. I do hope the game is good, but I fear that there will be a missmatch between "what they say they will deliver" + "what the fans think they said they would deliver" and "what they actually deliver".

  3. There are also so many people who are saying things like "AOC is the LAST chance for a good MMO and if it doesn't live up to the hype, I am just done with the genre in general." These people are inevitably going to be disappointed as we are reaching/surpassing Cyberpunk levels of hype. All MMO launches are fun for the first few weeks, but after that honeymoon period, I feel like many people are going to start critically looking at the systems. It is going to be a bloodbath on Social Media, that's for sure haha

  4. It's all about managing expectations, the idea and vision from the devs are great but we'll have to see if they are able to deliver, I'm getting some star citizen vibes with the scope creep and the paid alpha access and cosmetics before the game even launched. I won't spend a cent before it launches though.

  5. From what I've seen so far, what will ultimately kill the game is the hype around it…
I hope it'll be fun for the people who look forward to it, but the PVP element is already a turn-off for me. Another red flag is the housing that can be ruined by the node shifts. What fun is there if you can't even settle down in a place that you know can be ruined one way or the other?
I'm keeping an eye out for Palia, though.

  6. It's not the world increasing but the map size because they thought things were too cluttered. As far we know it wasn't to add more things to the world or game but so exploring the world was a better experience. They lowered the amount of nodes (the main feature of Ashes), and increased the landsize of Zones. I wouldn't consider that scope creep unless they were like plus we are adding in all these cool features that we didn't initially plan but thought of it later and a new class and a whole new zone, maybe a new race etc etc

  7. I'm not anti AOC person nor I'm I a big anti cosmetic shop guy. But it's just funny to me this announced fully funded game is slanging cosmetic gear that people are buying. And no one even bats an eye. Overall I'm sure I will play this game but probably be a month or 2 later.

  8. I'm excited for the game because it seems that the devs are in tune with what players want.

I don't think it will be the most amazing game on the planet but it seems like it has a decent shot at making an impact on the MMO landscape.

  9. I don't feel a long development cycle is a bad thing for an mmo, its just par for the course. Since the mmo space is so limited, no matter when it comes out it will find a player base even if it is just due to the genre. How long they stay can be another discussion.

  10. I would like eto finally see how indepth the systems will be interlinked with each other anad how thye will all work in cohesion.
They were talking is broadly and detailedd about important aspect of every system, but how everything will it sum into overall imeresion setting, is hard to imagine without trying it out.

  11. The thing I notice people not pointing out, and what I think should be pointed out, is how Steven made his wealth. It was through an MLM. He became a multimillionaire through a business model designed around tricking people out of their money. This is not to say that the end goal for him is to cheat mmoers out of their money, just that someone who is willing to engage with something like has underlying personality traits, maybe even subconscious ones, that may lead them to make predatory decisions and think nothing of it.

  12. Red flags: 1) forced pvp. 2) cosmetics. 3) "systems" 4) Long development. All combined, Bless Online. Hopium: They lie about 1) and 3) for pr and marketing. Personally hardly see it.

I want this game to do good, if this game fails, it will make people think that "old school" games are not good, even if they don't really make that type of game some people might see it that way, and if a game with so many good things on paper fails, this will be bad, developers don't take risks but this will make it harder. So personally I pray for the Hopium even if it is a forced pvp game, maybe it ends up being a better Black Desert.

  13. I agree with this totally. I have been concerned about the over hype, and even Josh had put something out regarding this not long ago. I for one, like a lot of what is going for Ashes, but at the end of the day, i doubt i'll play it. The minute i saw a video saying a pve green flagged person can be killed for loot completely turned me off the game. I just going to wait for Pantheon, and Riot's mmo.

  14. thats really not a red flag- people leave all the time…the red flag is the countless system that all mmo have attempted and failed at implementing due to player hacks and cheats and other design errors

  15. Ashes just doesnt look right. The environment is starting to look better but the players dont look part of the world. Maybe its because they have terrible animations or something.

  16. Regarding the scope creep related to the world getting larger, Steven did mention the size was expanded to more properly accommodate all the systems, which is why they also reduced the quantity of nodes in the world as well. It seems like their initial calculations of what the world size should be was off and now that the game is much more developed they have a better understanding of what's needed regarding square footage to fit things properly. I could be wrong, but hopefully that's the case

  17. What’s that saying? Hope for the best prepare for the worst. In this case it could be, hope for a good game and prepare for its flaws. Indeed, isn’t that the case with most games? 😆 I’m sure Ashes of Creation will be a fun new experience for many, and a familiar and comforting experience for others. And if you happen to not enjoy yourself, don’t worry, it’s ok, other games will come! Thank you for sharing your insight with us Brian! ❤️
