What is Ashes of Creation?

Ashes of Creation is a unique take on the MMO experience. Our world structure is dynamic and built to react to the actions of our players. Cities will rise and fall, their populations based on the history of the world as the players create it. Quests will unlock as these populations gather, their needs grow, and secrets are unlocked. As the world’s NPC structure is established in real time, players will have the ability to destroy what they’ve created, paving the way for new development, new populations, and real change. Political strife and intrigue will play a very real role in the structure of your world. Gone are the days of static worlds, change is here to stay.

Risk Vs Reward
All across Verra, you have the opportunity to experience massive warfare, participate in epic trade caravans, and gather valuable components to craft exquisite items. Not only will your fellow players be your adversaries; the creatures of the land and the very environment itself will pose a constant and fresh challenge. Will you siege castles to become royalty, defeat other guilds to showcase your prowess, shape the marketplace by being a successful trader, or earn renown by developing your artisan crafting skills? This is your story, you tell us!

  1. IF players have to pay money to the game studio to do software testing for the company, then the developer should also pay money to the game studio to do coding for the company. Make sense? Well, developer paying money to company to do coding for them? Never heard of. Player paying money to do alpha testing for the game studio? Hmm …

  2. I’ve been following this drama over the last couple of days and I thought I’d throw my 2 cense in,

Just to give context as to where I am, I currently have not got access to the alpha, but I watch all updates and streamers like yourself.

I see people going crazy about the price for the alpha. But there’s something I don’t understand about these people, it’s an alpha, not a functional game, you pay for the alpha because you want to support the game, which is the only reason I would only ever get the alpha ( which I intend to do when I have some time )

I just feel people pay for this to test the game and support it, because the only reason I will be getting it is to support the game and see what I think.

It’s been blown way out of proportion I feel. I’m going to continue to keep watching updates and eventually invest in the alpha, the way I see it is if you can part with $100 and not be bothered then do it. People are acting like they are buying a full game !

Enjoy your videos keep them up !

  3. Ok, the game studio collect money from the player. So my question is what is the game studio selling?

Alpha testing? Getting player to pay and then getting them to test the software for the company? Sounds like BS to me.

XX months of game subscription/time? Sure. Then when is the game gonna fully ready and launch? Oh you are not going to be committal on a definite timeline so that player will not hold that against you. You sell game subscription/time to the players and then you say I don't know when the product will be ready because I don't want to commit to a timeline. I am selling something that I don't even know when it will be ready or I don't want to accept the responsibility to be held accountable for a definite timeline. I don't know about you but it also sound BS to me.

  4. I don't like that this drama gives light to Narc. I personally don't like his content, but it is more upsetting the obvious click-bait rage attempt that has really caused harm to a studio that is trying to produce a game that could be something great. Maybe it is not for everyone, certainly. But in the world they are making there is room for those that don't enjoy PvX. I am playing the Alpha and have been since phase 1 and I have been really enjoying myself. The flag system in its current state makes me a solo cleric running around in the world, not a desirable target for those that are interested in PvP simply because the corruption they would receive isn't worth the glint I have in my pockets. It is thrilling to know it is possible to get attacked. It makes the world far more interesting while playing PVE. That said, when my level is high enough and I'm more confident in my skills, I always have the option to try the PvP options available. That freedom to play the way I want to play is not only refreshing, but in my opinion, worth every penny of the $120 I paid to get into the Alpha. This drama ticks me off but I am impressed with the passion that Steven shows for his project. That is rare and makes me want to support the project even more. The communication from Intrepid has been fine in my opinion and not worth throwing shade at the studio. The areas are in development and I totally get that. It is fun to see the world develop around you in the weeks since I started. I really hope people can use some critical-thinking when they see content related to this drama and search for the truth and not take the first thing they see as fact about this game. Thank you for talking about the situation!

  5. You mentioned at the beginning of the stream that you were a little surprised that the Braver of Worlds folks weren't the ones who were angry, but the thing is, those of us who bought in back in 2017 went into it with no solid expectations.

My personal experience was that I bought into the original Kickstarter at the lifetime membership level because the idea of the node system and a living, changing world that ensured no two servers would ever be exactly the same appealed to me tremendously. At the time, the company profile had 6 people on it during the drive. It was ridiculously ambitious with no clear way to reach the goal. I fully accepted when I donated that I was donating to someone's dream that appealed to me as a gamer, and I accepted the possibility that I might never see a return on that money I just spent.

That's the place the early backers are coming from. Given that we didn't know if the effort would even get off the design board when we backed it, we're more than happy to keep waiting as long as it takes for it to be ready. It's a passion project, and I don't want it to release until it's in the state that Steven dreamed of when he pitched it to us in 2017.

  6. Only had one instance of pvp so far and that was me killing the dude that looted me when I got killed by a skelly. Not smart to loot me when I was really close to the emberstone. Ended up with more than I lost lol

  7. Ffs, people are bitching so much about this. Barely anything happened. Some dude made clearly unfair claims and now it's like a civil war 😀 Hats off to Steven for his passion and decision to defend this publicly because people are stupid and many might believe Narc and never look deeper. Yes, communication might not have been perfect, but perfect is subjective. From where I'm sitting everything was fine and Narc just overdosed on copium and went berserk. Forget the guy, he decided to suicide his career in AoC space and that's that, only thing he did is a "backflip" before the plunge.

  8. Can you explain sometime why you think they need to wipe for good data on the vassal system? My understanding is that the vassal system is an extension on the node system. Like adding additional stages of development to a node which seems like they shouldn’t wipe before releasing and let us progress our nodes further
