I am not surprised by any of this. Wake up, people stop buying into these early access or alpha test expecting to have a full game experience.
All valid thoughts that ive heard from others recently. I think the biggest thing for many is how Intrepid deals with the exploitive/abusive behaviors. If nothing happens, many will give up on the game.
Its not supposed to be fun. It’s an alpha. The point is to show very basic shit and see how it works. We could just not have it to play at all. Talk shit when its out.
Vyra seems like a shit show… on Lyneth as far as I can see the toxicity isn't as bad
A PvP focused game is toxic?!?! Whaaaaaaaaa
The truth will set you free. Ashes is a scam.
When even so positive players as you start to give worrisome feedback, devs really need to rethink what they are doing. Alpha is alpha, but asking players to grind mobs for so long for "testing" is sadistic. Devs should make more focused testing environment and stop pretending that there are any content worth testing in the game.
I have tried both Vyra and Lynnth and I can categorigally say that Lynnth is so much more fun. The sever seems much more stable. Its a million times less toxic and actually the pirates seem all pretty chill. I would suggest giving it a go.
Thanks for your honest opinion.
Couldn't agree more. Phase 2 has been really disappointing, they shouldn't have released it when they knew they weren't going to have anyone to support it for weeks. More bugs on top of all the old bugs we thought they already fixed… Seems like they added 3k more people at the cost of any and all progress they had made over all of Nov and Dec.
Games a mess, a Class Action lawsuit in the future is probably the best course of action cause this is never ever going to be what was advertised and sold at any point in the turmoil filled development cycle.
I can’t launch the game due to tech issues, that’s my biggest issue
Ban the cheaters, wipe the server, open new servers fix the copper issue. 99% of the problems would be resolved.
WoW is a game for everyone. AOC is not for everyone.
Its not a game. Its a testing environment. Some of yall are just burning yourself out for no reason.
All of this would have been fine if we weren't all squished onto the same server. It felt like a slap in the face. It's a less fun phase 1. Too many people, and half of them suck to be around.
what a cry baby, not gonna lie your points are still valid but you are steady crying right now. Take a break and give a real impression
Get ready for Steven to come here and tell you that "thanks for the $$ and marketing, however unfortunately open development isn't for you and I think you may have some kind of mental illness, come back later"
That aside, video captures my vibes about Phase 2 pretty well.
Idk man I'm playing phase 2 and I'm having a blast. I have glowingly positive reviews of the game. I think Jamie is just going through a burn out phase from how much time he's already put into the game and dealing with toxic people. Dont let the bad apples get to ya. Ashes is on a good track. Dont forget it's Alpha.
Finally some content creators starting to show up, thank god, this phase is terrible…
Verbal abuse that would be shut down in other games?
Press X to doubt on that one 😂 man I play Tarkov
Thats the downfall of open development. The game will be dead before release because its going to be overplayed.
Jan. is Suppose to Bring in Rogue but the meat of the Game will be between now & May or June. I hope before the Game goes 7 Days a week that they have up to level 40 because we need to start seeing the Features or this going Ashes of Creation open to 7 Days a Week & you can now get to level 25 (Like it is Now) WHY!!!!
the guy in charge of aoc is literally a known pyramid scheme con artist
I think there will be a MASSIVE banwave when they get back from (a well deserved) vacation. Steven will bring in the reckoning on exploiters hard is my bet.
As someone who just got into the game (despite following it for years) I can stay the new player/tester experience has been pretty decent. There have been a lot of learning curves for sure, a lot of living with the grind, but there has also been a lot of frustration. I currently have 1 level 10 and two level 9 characters and I can slowly feel the burnout. I've reported all the bugs I've come across (within reason of what I'm currently doing and how distracted I am), and for the most part the overall experience has been what I'd expect from an alpha, with some "wtf" moments. The chat has been… A mix of good, wholesome, and then just garbage, but I tend to just turn global off at times to avoid it all. Seeing some guilds just control so much for the meme of it, for the trolling, and for the "we do what we want" has been quite annoying. So much so that the current server my friend and I are on, we've said for phase 3 we will be moving. I just hope that as the days roll past, we see an upswing in how things are handled from the technical, moral, and logical side of things.
Hey, happy new year!
You literally said what I think and why I stopped testing/playing the game. A lot of feedback was given, a lot was ignored, the same game-breaking bugs are still in the game that were in pre-alpha 2 5-6 months ago. To be honest, I liked Alpha 1 better.
As I said I've given up on the game for now. Much has been said, not much has been delivered, much has been shown and said during livestreams over the years and most things so far have not been delivered. Just as they said the “game” shouldn't be a grind, leveling should be a journey and they would avoid the boring grinding."
Compare this video with the current game: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhvQEPuexjg&t=1158s%5D 19:00.
They said they would rework Tank and other classes before the launch of A2 Phase 1, which they did not do. Certain abilities are still buggy and overall some classes lack identity.
That they didn't even rework useless skills that are more like placeholders also says a lot. Dwarf Dodgeroll jump which was criticized during A1 is still the same and more.
The Vaelune starting area is also a good example, just a few randomly placed copy-paste tents so they have a “second (human) starting area”.
(Almost) Nothing in the game feels like it was made with "love". Everything feels extremely time consuming, with little or no reward. Half of the systems of the few available are buggy or unfinished.
The quests/comissions give next to no xp (Yes they doubled it), if you abuse leveling through stuck mobs or other methods, Steven "cries" around threatening to punish players when they should just fix the pathing problem and more. Toxic community ingame and in Discord and mods are just watching.
Also the own developers bashing the company and sh**talk about things that happen internally and more.
And every time they add a new system, they literally break a lot of other things with it. The best example is the starter area gather/horsequest, which has been broken several times.
Steven said the game is not for everyone: "Not for pure pve or pvp players", but honestly the game is not suitable for solo/PvX players or groups either because the group content is too easy while the solo experience is poor. Melee classes are bad and boring for leveling or other content. Every monster has 80k hp (tanky) no mechanics, but deals a lot of dmg, fun? Not.
The last dungeon (Befallen Forge) is also a joke. The game already looks very outdated. Maybe some things will change in the next few years, I'll check here and there, but I rather focus on upcoming finished mmorpgs in 2025. The 540 euros I spent for the A1 pack to support the game feels very wasted atm and I would have rather used the money for something else, quite honestly.
Overall, I could write an essay on the game, but w/e, it's a shame, but there are other games out there and if AoC doesn't make it, I can't care less. I rarely feel burned out from a game I test/play but this game gives me that kind of feeling all the time and I am not the only one. W/E! Nice video!
Nobody will accuse Jamie of being fake and the game needs real talk like this
Some points to take into consideration for you maybe
1. Intrepid did us a favour to keep the servers up while they’re on holidays, that’s why they aren’t as active
2. It was your choice to level 15 characters and burn yourself out
3. This is a test not a full game don’t treat it like one
I just don't understand what's being tested. If we are testing servers, nodes, vassals etc. then let's focus on it and get it done. Make it very focused testing that way we can help as much as possible. Grinding mobs for 100 hours isn't beneficial to this state of the game, it's just a deterrent for testers who didn't no life the launch.
It’s all about the server. Lyneth is fine. I’m having a fun.
Valid
Hey at least they punished the people who were validly moving between events in Miraleth because they didn't want to grind mobs
On the exploits. It is likely most of the Intrepid staff are still on holiday.
They have gone on record stating they record everything the testers are doing.
Let them return to work and deal with them. It will be like night and day when they do.
Given them a week or so.
Since Phase II, I took a step back from the game partly because having so few servers would cause a lot of problems. Though, this is needed for stress tests for the servers.
I believe things will start shaking out in the next few weeks.
Also, I am waiting for the rogue release.
Classes aren't robust enough. Not enough gear drops. Getting money is hard, which is should be, but if we had better/more drops we wouldn't feel the struggle as much. Not any true new content and it's going to be a LOOOOONG time until May. We need more skills in every class, we need the 2nd Archetypes, we need more zones and bigger maps. Not wiping ever again may be the wrong move unless their actually going to add more content and zones every month.
So many of you are upset because you are expecting a game that just needs fleshing out. Steven has SO MANY TIMES, if you are expecting a game, dont buy in to the alpha. It is testing. If they are still trying to get the infrastructure and networking down, they arent wasting manpower on quests and and such. They may not even have those people hired yet to deal with that stuff. I see constantly people complaining about the same things they would with a live service game. Yes we paid for this, but it was stated so many times, this isn't a full game yet.
Gameplay is Mind numbingly tedious and its putting me off. I just put in a couple of hours a day untill my eyes start to bleed then I go back to my usual stuff. There's simply too many people in too small a place with insufficient things to do.
