I’ve seen this discussion come up quite a bit on social media recently, and it makes sense with the Alpha 2 purchases ending soon. The bundle IS a lot of money and I am not advocating people spend it. The point is that kickstarter games and small indie games need funding from somewhere, and sadly kickstarter is where a lot of scam games do happen.
There aren’t many kickstarter games out there where the CEO of the company is forking over 45 million dollars of his own money and hiring over 100 developers to develop a game though, and in that lies the difference.

I get their a small indie game company being transparent without the funding of a triple A studio. The problem lies in the fact that yes the larger companies will see this and say we can essentially get paid for QA testing our games under the guise of community outreach.
Intrepids intentions may be entirely pure. But it can become the business model of larger more predatory studios.
With QA testers at many studios unionizing, allowing the player base to do those jobs to a point might allow the gaming industry to fight that and downsize through this method.
Just my two cents
There's a point in the video where I discuss subscription cost. The point I was trying to make is that if you try Ashes and do not like it, your overall cost of trying the game would be 15 dollars. Each month for this game you make the decision if 15 dollars a month is worth it for you. If you were trying to optimize profits on a scam game, an out of box cost of 50-70 dollars would be way more profitable.
I support most indy companies before i support bigger ones such as Bethesda or cod level games. Thinking about joining that live stream gig as well
Hey, I know that guy! 🤔
For what this bundle gives you I think its worth the price, however I see peoples concerns on the game never fully releasing, its happened in the past but from what ive seen about Ashes I don't think that'll be the case. All and all its just like any investment you make. If you love a product so much and what to see it grow and become a well polished product especially if your passionate and have the money to spend, whats wrong with that.
Ashes open development and valuing players feedback and making changes based on that feedback is extraordinarily rare in gaming. With ashes you pretty well know what youre buying after watching hundreds of hours of dev videos and even more write ups. Easy choice for me to spend the 250.
Also one other thing to point out. Every other mmo ive ever saw in my life players have said it would've been better with more dev time. Every. Single. One. So while we're all excited and ready to play, im more ready to have a functioning content filled mmo on release. We have saw the trend many times before. Huge numbers on release then huge drop offs. The reasons for the drop off are the same each time. So at the end of the day i say take what time you need and make the best game you can.
I would have to disagree, looking at "indie" studios, and giving them an exception is not warranted. The price is easily 2 weeks worth of food for some and having been someone who played BG3 during beta/early access for the price of the game at launch, I cannot accept the excuse to allow indie studios to do this. I am still looking forward to the game, but I will spend my 200+ elsewhere.
I don't think the issue is with ashes..its with pantheon, a game 10 years onto development that has shown nothing, a game that looks like something from 1995 that content creators are shilling for, if ashes existed in a vaccum i don't think this would be nearl the topic it is
What took you 2 years took me 2 days. If Intrepid is scamming people they got me the other day too. After finding the game and all these YouTube videos I picked up the $375 bundle. Can’t wait for Q3 to see what I purchased. Lol
Oh didn’t know my comment made it to the thumbnail 😂
