  1. PVP MMOs don’t work so well. They exist but as Asmon said, they will never have the numbers as the big MMOs. Even Josh mentioned this on his channel. The reason being is new player comes in, gets griefed, they leave cause it;s not fun for them. Eventually the community shrinks down until there is only the hardcore are left. Then the hardcore complain cause no one is in the game.

  2. I play zero non con PVP games, to me its unworthy of my time to grind and get gear or however a specific game may be set up but do all that just to lose it to some troll looking to get you to lose everything that you gained in a PVE way idk just doesn't really make since to me so I stay away from games like that.

  3. I want credit for this fix: PvP Blighted mechanics. A Challenge is made before the PvP is started. No damage dealt until Challenge is addressed. "Challenge accepted" brings about typical pvp fight. "Challenge ignored" brings Blighted Land, an AoE that prevents quests and XP from occuring in the Challenged location. Challenges are announced and marked on map and all levels/players can engage any accepted challege. Challenges are limited per day per area per player. Accepting challenges does not have a daily limit. Engaging in someone else's challenge, in an offensive or defensive mannor, does not have a daily limit.

The area that the challenge had occured in, will be blighted for up to an hour for the decliner of said challenge, and the blight stands as a challenge to anyone else who desires to accept the challenge. The blight prevents XP and quests, and must be addressed. The blight discontinues if the challenger leaves the blighted area.
You can't challenge the same person more than once a day. 24 hour timer starts at end of blight.

  4. Reminds me of the olden days of Dark Age of Camelot, we originally had 2 open world pvp servers. Needless to say, one server was shut down the second year of the games' lifespan, and the other was on life-support level of players and limped for 8 years after that. The pvp zones is where end game crafting merchants were (In the original release, this changed in 2006(?) when they updated the pvp zone) organically producing the non-consensual pvp and the contested dungeon that was opened up depending on your side's performance in the pvp zone. I may have rose tinted glasses, but the magic of that game was a beautiful thing. Another victim of EA.

  5. Forced PvP is a good idea on paper but what usually happens is one side gets their rocks off while the other side just quits. The biggest problem is the dude who is forcing PvP is stacked and ready to solely fight whereas the other guy is probably busy with something else, and any catering the devs do to the side that quits will upset anyone abusing the system to get their rocks off.

  6. Bro even metin2 has a karma system for non consentual pvp. IF you kill non flagged players, you get negative karma, wich allows positive karma to atack you with no penalty, and if you loose you drop items. its not hard. if you want to prevent continuous griefing you just make the penalty multiply if the PK kill the same non flagged charecter over and over. and make it so positive karma can attack them.

  7. How is this even a debate? It's apparent that non-consensual PvP is fundamentally bad for MMOs. No amount of mechanical dissuasion is going to stop people from participating in it and there will always be a portion of the population that uses the system for targeted harassment. I'm honestly surprised AoC has garnered this much attention.

  8. I feel like there's a huge difference why people are angry about Steven's response, I don't have a way to prove it but I'm almost what's 100% sure that most of the people complaining don't care about the game or the integrity of the game all they want to do was grief Asmongold and so now they are trash-talking the game because they enforced their TOS and wouldn't allow them to grief asmon specifically

  9. i dont think its funny to be tonix in games
people are playing games to have fun and relax so having those grievers in game is the worst thing a game developer can allow
thats a reason i dont play any pvp roleplay games anymore cause there is so much toxicity

  10. Coming from Star Citizen i think non consensual pvp can be not griefing
. Sometimes a player has something you want… so you kill em, take it… n move on… doesnt have to turn onto a hple thing
