  1. I like this system. It has much more room for balancing and decision making when looting, and turns the looting experience into a strategic gameplay component. So cool!

  2. While I applaud them for trying something new, as a crafter, I don't want inventory management to be more than 30% of my activities.

If it applies only to the Gathering profession, then I'll give it a shot. However, you will have to move all the items to a processor, so I hope it is fairly efficient and somewhat painless. I guess we will see during testing.

  3. I've seen a lot of people rage over this system. The key here is it isn't about making you sort out your inventory as a mini game (sound like they are trying to automate that anyway). It's about creating larger game mechanics and more depth in progression. I think it's an interesting idea.

  4. I think a 2d tetris system is just stupid. It's just an annoyance having to rearrange your bag to fit in the things that you can fit. If you want to make objects all wonky shaped that'd be one thing, but as long as every inventory piece is a rectangle, it's just an annoyance-check that doesn't add anything to the game. Give bags item and/or encumbrance limits, but if I have to rearrange my 1×1 items so I can fit a 2×1 item (Path of Exile/Diablo style), that seems really pointless. It's not a puzzle. Either make it a real puzzle or make it automatic.

  5. Thus also makes you think, it has an auto arrange feature, and it keeps idiots from just running around and grabbing everything under the sun.
I do like the logic. As I've also said, what is more cumbersome? A 3lb hammer attached to your belt OR a 2'x3' framed painting you got as loot, that you have to lug back to town or your freehold.

  6. Personally, I like a sense of progression in my games, and putting limiting factors on things allows for you to progress past the tedium. And Intrepid wants people to have to think about what they're doing when they leave the comfort of whichever safe zone they're in. Verra isn't 100% hold-your-hand safe like in other MMO's where you don't really have to worry about how the game mechanics judge the consequences of your actions. And little reminders like limited slot/bag space to constantly tell you "This isn't meant to be easy" plays right into the Risk Vs Reward style that Steven has preached about since day 1. He's also said this game will not be for everyone, but people who like things to be a little on the difficult side will like a game that allows for them to have challenges to overcome. I honestly am looking forward to starting with nothing in my limited pockets and spending hours making them grow.
