What is Ashes of Creation?
Ashes of Creation is a unique take on the MMO experience. Our world structure is dynamic and built to react to the actions of our players. Cities will rise and fall, their populations based on the history of the world as the players create it. Quests will unlock as these populations gather, their needs grow, and secrets are unlocked. As the world’s NPC structure is established in real time, players will have the ability to destroy what they’ve created, paving the way for new development, new populations, and real change. Political strife and intrigue will play a very real role in the structure of your world. Gone are the days of static worlds, change is here to stay.
Risk Vs Reward
All across Verra, you have the opportunity to experience massive warfare, participate in epic trade caravans, and gather valuable components to craft exquisite items. Not only will your fellow players be your adversaries; the creatures of the land and the very environment itself will pose a constant and fresh challenge. Will you siege castles to become royalty, defeat other guilds to showcase your prowess, shape the marketplace by being a successful trader, or earn renown by developing your artisan crafting skills? This is your story, you tell us!

We need to stop pretending like what is happening is reasonable. How many years has it been to produce so little? There is more rubberbanding and disconnects in phase 2 than phase 1. Server population is crashing like a rock. They can't even do the basics of turning up the respawn rate. They have turned the respawn rate one click short of off. That is a simple change they can make and they won't do it. How hard is it to have the market searchable by item, get real? How hard it to have mobs other than grem, goblins, and highwaymen? I know that's an exaggeration but come on. No, after this many years the production is pathetic by any measure. Steven has great vision, but he can't get anything done. The game/Alpha is boring and tedious. I tried to do the blue and green quests but the respawn rate for the named mobs is turned down so low that I couldn't even figure out what the respawn rate was. How hard is it to turn up the respawn rate??? They aren't listening. They won't listen.
Anyone who feels "misled" don't understand the difference between,
the Livestream Dev Builds, the PTR, and the live Test. Intrepid is much further ahead than anything we've seen or tested.
Alpha Testing isn't for everyone!
Communication is always a 2 party problem, so what I think we need from Steven is this.
When there is a system that was in a showcase, a real gameplay showcase; gathering, weather, freeholds, ect. Then we see that system in game and it's not the same as the showcase. I would like Steven to either reiterate that the intended system is what was in the showcase or say they have changed direction with how they plan to implement that system.
Freeholds I assume are incomplete, but still intended as we saw in the demo. Gathering, I am less sure.
Because Intrepid has to have the freedom to change direction. Release things in a functional state, remove systems, put new systems in, ect. But when they do that, just communicate it.
Dark age unchained was a scam
Being a game dev doesnt mean that you know everything. I have seen also PirateSoftware calling one person unhinged who disagreed with him about the direction of Ashes of Creation. Also is it open development if Steven doesnt say that the gameplay segments that they have shown over the years are just vertical slices that still need quite a bit of development in order to be implemented into the game?
I tested alphas various times before, ranging from Dark Age of Camelot, to LOTRO, to original WoW. All of them had more systems, less developers, and development was faster.
That being said I'm still hopeful for Ashes, I just don't understand the difference between the footage shown and the actual game.
Saying that development is so slow because it has so many systems interwoven together : but so had every single mmo.
I'm not much of an AoC fan since the combat looks lacklustre to me as it seems very floaty (similar to other mmos I've tried) which I hope I'm wrong about or subject to change, that and zergs, but I have seen a fair share of content to get the context from content creators / Steven
But YouTube recommended that recent Narc video and dear god he comes across as salty, like Steven had personally slapped him across the face. Seems what he saw in a vertical slice "showcase" should have been 1:1 and fully fleshed out for Alpha.
I'm not sure if the general consensus is the same as his, or if it's a case of his comments repeating him verbatim.
It seemed very obvious to me that no aspect will be feature complete during Alpha, and the words used always implied work in progress. It seems most people, and content creators exacerbated this, inferred that getting X will mean they'd get X as it was exactly in the showcase. But also that they're viewing it as a content patch for a Live game instead of progressive alpha testing.
