  1. Yes, I feel like this is perfectly acceptable. As you said, “…risk vs. reward…” There also needs to be some measure of checks and balances to keep players from becoming too powerful, and this mechanic helps in that regard. I would also suggest to IT – if they haven’t done so already – is to allow for an item to be destroyed if it has been repaired too many times.
