React to Genuinely The Most Exciting Upcoming MMORPG – Ashes Of Creation – TheLazyPeon

Ashes of Creation is a unique take on the MMO experience. Our world structure is dynamic and built to react to the actions of our players. Cities will rise and fall, their populations based on the history of the world as the players create it. Quests will unlock as these populations gather, their needs grow, and secrets are unlocked. As the world’s NPC structure is established in real time, players will have the ability to destroy what they’ve created, paving the way for new development, new populations, and real change. Political strife and intrigue will play a very real role in the structure of your world. Gone are the days of static worlds, change is here to stay.

We have a very, very busy 4th quarter ahead of us, and the team will be hard at work preparing for the Alpha One test dates. The content push is well underway internally for the Alpha Two and Beta test periods. Plus, much of what Alpha One brings will help us identify areas of reworking that are necessary, and will prompt many community discussions. Steven Sharif

  1. Awesome. But the choppy lag from the server and the noob killing zone needs some revision. So – nice concept – but less than 60 fps at HD has room to grow. Launch will determine all. Much love as a racist game. Nikua here. Be safe.

  2. It might seem like a lot, and it is.. but they have a lot more freedom because of the style of the game. Quests are not part of a fixed storyline, there is no fixation on balancing everyone's experience.. everything does not serve some ultimate goal. This gives them waaaaaaaay more freedom. Games like wow could introduce 5 new random professions with fully fleshed out systems every other patch if they wanted, but those systems would have to somehow tie into the predetermined goals blizzard has for players. With a game like this they have complete freedom to add systems and tune them individually until they feel good without having to change everything else around it. Each system only has to serve its own purpose.

If they add a card game at the inn.. they don't have to latch it into some artifact power system. Its just a card game at the inn.

Their dev team can sit there all day rendering furniture for people to make with the woodworking profession, giving people TONS of content.. and not worry if that is going to effect high end raid guilds.

That kind of mentality where.. they are just trying to make a fun environment for people to run wild and make what they can of it.. if some things are broken they will tweak it until its manageable but for the most part they don't care to try directly balancing the outcome of every players experience.. That is huge, and gives them a lot of freedom to add tons of systems to the game.
