What is Ashes of Creation?
Ashes of Creation is a unique take on the MMO experience. Our world structure is dynamic and built to react to the actions of our players. Cities will rise and fall, their populations based on the history of the world as the players create it. Quests will unlock as these populations gather, their needs grow, and secrets are unlocked. As the world’s NPC structure is established in real time, players will have the ability to destroy what they’ve created, paving the way for new development, new populations, and real change. Political strife and intrigue will play a very real role in the structure of your world. Gone are the days of static worlds, change is here to stay.
Risk Vs Reward
All across Verra, you have the opportunity to experience massive warfare, participate in epic trade caravans, and gather valuable components to craft exquisite items. Not only will your fellow players be your adversaries; the creatures of the land and the very environment itself will pose a constant and fresh challenge. Will you siege castles to become royalty, defeat other guilds to showcase your prowess, shape the marketplace by being a successful trader, or earn renown by developing your artisan crafting skills? This is your story, you tell us!

Boop….out and about I'll check this out when I get back home!
World bosses got me a little nervous. I don't like the pvp aspect of trying to kill a world boss. However, the AI has me very excited to see what they do in the fight.
I really hope that there will be a decent number of dungeons that will be available that are instanced and that you can run with a team of eight so that you can run it with guild mates and close friends, and be able to enjoy a challenge without being harassed or trolled by other guilds or just roaming bands of jackasses who get off on annoying people. I get that they want that open world feel and that's fine, but you still need at least a little something for everyone and even more importantly than placating certain groups of players you need variety. There's a reason why 'variety is the spice of life' is a super common phrase.
I'm so interested to see how they make open world boss mechanics so they aren't a zerg fest. Raiding in open world is going to be so interesting.
End-game Raid Zones has me very excited! It's not official that they will have Raid Zones, it was just an idea of mine but man… the content that could be done in a zone like that. What are your thoughts on raiding and world bosses? Do you think Intrepid will handle them well with the new AI tech?
Open World raid zones are essentially the endgame map metas from GW2, where the entire zone is designed to be a raid that requires 100 plus players to complete. It's actually the most fun, innovative content I've seen in a MMO and the recent ones are actually really hard.
I don't want exactly that in Ashes, but if a world boss meta is being driven by node activity then we are essentially reaching the same fun place. Triggered events are basically the meta chains from GW2, which is a very good sign that Intrepid is pulling some of the best ideas from the wider MMO market.
THE ALGO REQUIRES SACRIFICE.

It will be interesting to see how the rewards are affected by group performance. For me raid zones are a welcomed idea. EQ had many raid zones and is something I'm quite familiar with, I just hope we can find a balance between strategic mechanics and zerg mode which is normally what all world bosses turn into. However the one thing EQ didn't have was pvp. Having your own raid team get zerged by an opposing raid team could be fun, or highly frustrating. Especially because of XP debt, durability loss (which takes resources and crafters to repair), dropping resources you may be carrying, and corruption. I don't see pvp fights over world bosses being a one and done scenario, these fights could drag out. It could be a very high cost vs the reward that makes people go "I'm not interested in raiding" .🤣🤣
