What is Ashes of Creation?
Ashes of Creation is a unique take on the MMO experience. Our world structure is dynamic and built to react to the actions of our players. Cities will rise and fall, their populations based on the history of the world as the players create it. Quests will unlock as these populations gather, their needs grow, and secrets are unlocked. As the world’s NPC structure is established in real time, players will have the ability to destroy what they’ve created, paving the way for new development, new populations, and real change. Political strife and intrigue will play a very real role in the structure of your world. Gone are the days of static worlds, change is here to stay.
Risk Vs Reward
All across Verra, you have the opportunity to experience massive warfare, participate in epic trade caravans, and gather valuable components to craft exquisite items. Not only will your fellow players be your adversaries; the creatures of the land and the very environment itself will pose a constant and fresh challenge. Will you siege castles to become royalty, defeat other guilds to showcase your prowess, shape the marketplace by being a successful trader, or earn renown by developing your artisan crafting skills? This is your story, you tell us!

Two videos back to back! Let's go!
Very interesting.
Gathering appeals to the explorer and wanderer in me.
I want trees to be very broad in scope and have really cool interactions with how you play your professions. Here is hoping too.
What do you want to see from future updates to the Profession Talent Trees in Ashes of Creation? Do you want choices to matter or have general implications to your professions? How many talent nodes do you want to see? Should surveying have its own talent tree? Let me know down below!
Love it! Talent points into surveying would be great.
They should make profession talent tree choices permanent. Making so you can only be, lets say Grandmaster sword smith, but not a grandmaster mace smith.
The only way to re-spec artisan talents would be to re-level your entire artisan level from zero, so you can't just swap specialization on a whim every time you find a new recipe.
IMO path of exile doesnt do it very well as there is only a couple viable builds for each class each update. The rest are really trash. You dont really start character without having whole build on the paper including gear, pantheon and skill you are going to use. Sorry for offtopic.
I dont see this being a Big deal, they can always add onto it but yes more options for our crafters the better
I get your stance on creating niches in professions, but I counter this with that fact that niche-ifying professions leads to the death of your profession in the majority of your gameplay.
If you can only gather at night, that is a 50% reduction in the total gameplay that you can utilize your profession.
If you can only gather during winter, that is a 75% reduction in the total gameplay that you can utilize your profession.
that ends up with a value of 0.125 or 12.5 % of gameplay opportunity once you calculate the total percentage of gameplay opportunity in which you can use your profession, which means you are close to only being able to use your profession 1/10th the total amount of time you play the game. Add in the fact that you probably won't be able to play between the windows of time you are able to hit these windows (we'll be conservative and say you can hit half the total amount of that time window), and we are looking at you only bein g able to use your profession a total of 6% of the total time you play the game.
That won't work. It will lead to the death of professions and lead to the death of people having enjoyment in professions._
You should be encouraged to use your profession as much as you want. There will be players who want to ONLY utilize their professions when they play. Easiest way to kill an MMO is to say to these players "you will only be effective using your profession 6% of the total time you play"
Being niche in professions is good, but ONLY if you can be niche in your profession 100% of the time you play. If there are artificial restrictions to you utilizing your profession and effectively saying "you cant use your profession unless you hit these small arbitrary time windows" then that just isn't fun and is bad game design, pure and simple.-
While I agree with what you say and more options in trees would be fun, there does need to be some systems/achievements/goals that are able to be completed fully. I don't think this is the tree for that, but with all things, balance. Let's get our hands on it and give some incredible feedback soon.
Most MMO's either have no talent trees for professions, or if they do, they tend to be pretty basic. Just having talent trees at all for professions makes it already more complex than most MMOs.
isnt this the novice talent tree , pretty sure it will become a lot bigger the higher mastery you have in a profession
Careful what you wish for , you might get it
