Thor explains some of the details about Ashes of Creation’s Profession leveling system, and how it is independent of the character’s adventure level.
In Ashes of Creation, the artisan and profession system allow players to specialize in one or more of the three artisan skill trees: Gathering, Processing, and Crafting. Starting as novices in all 22 professions, players can progress through tiers—Apprentice, Journeyman, Master, and Grandmaster—unlocking new skills, tools, and recipes along the way2. Each character can achieve up to two Grandmaster professions, encouraging specialization and interdependence among players. This system complements character progression and enhances the game’s economic and social dynamics.”

What game is he talking about
SWG was the same way initially. Crafting, and Entertainers required zero combat to level.
Sounds like how me and my friends play Albion Online

Thor, you are awesome! Your manly voice soothes my woes. No homo.
Swg is still the number 1 crafting system and professions i ever played. Being a master doctor and armorsmith was amazing, the social aspect that a fighter had to go visit a doctor before missions, image designer for stat respecs, smuggler's to upgrade your gead, cheffs for food buffs, cantina with musicinas and dancers for mind buffs and after the battle to health mind wounds and then bsck to the doc again to heal health and action wounds
I followed this game since it was an unplayable idea, and I'm confident if it ever actually releases, it'll be a typical cash grab with full pay to win within a year of full release. Imo they are just milking the cosmetic only crowd the most they can for now. Because if you believe that's how it will be you will spend more. And just like BDO you won't be able to do anything about it when they make the switch.
Swtor also has the crew skills for professions, you can level those without leveling your character, but since your companions are the ones doing the work and you get more companions by advancing the story for which you have to level it gets easier to level them when you're higher level.
I really enjoyed the hand and land jobs in ff14, got everything to 60 then the game was like nah you gotta finish ARR before you can do any more of them, and so I quit.
