While I do agree that 12k members is a lot and all. Servers will have 50k accounts on them. So that's 1/4 of the server. To me, a server that has 4 sides that battle each other in ginormous epic fights is the coolest thing an mmo could have.
The issue is that people are so fucking afraid to even try and attempt to fight, that such zergs just roll over the server.
I definitely disagree with the whole "guilds gotta have more slots for guilds like mine" thing, but I do want enormous pvp fights, and these kinds of zergs provide them quite often.
They're obviously keeping guilds small for testing. If a mega alliance dominates an entire server, half their systems won't see the light of day. The limit may increase depending on player count and activity, we'll see. Hope they don't make them too big though.

Honestly, peak siege/large-scale pvp involves multiple guilds in An Alliance. However most games that do this really get the numbers wrong.
Guilds should have a player cap and alliances should then have a further cap. IMO somewhere from 50 to 100 players per guild is a good size and then limiting an alliance to 2 or 3 guilds total also helps keep those large scale pvp event numbers down and reduces the huge zergs you see in games like EVE.
Sounds like they increased the max server sizes. Likely still having various realms, but in one video they advertised being able to handle 50,000 people in one location

Ashes Choice to choose the lame slow Combat system of Tab targeting ruins the entire game for me. They said it's going to be a hybrid combat system but those have almost never worked and have never been fun. All they had to do was refine the action combat system they had at the beginning to make it enjoyable. Tab targeting is outdated slow and boring. Only people who don't like change advocate for that slow boring shit combat.
Screw 12k member guilds. What draws me to Ashes is the old school small scale gameplay, not roleplaying in a faceless corporation.
one thing from Steven would fix this… define "server" (and what 'type' your "meshing" is designed to manage.) yep, i'm thinking that would clarify intent for "everyone".
I'm getting a worse gut feeling about this game every time someone like pirate comes in and acts like he's gonna 'figure out' how to 'operate' the game from within guilds in the server. Did we collectively learn nothing from Crowfall? Ya the game had very little pve content, but what utterly killed it within weeks was the exponential power disparity between groups of players. You flat out could not play alone or even with small groups. You had to roll with a minimum sized zerg or you were going to become someone else's content and a cheap laugh. Doesn't matter if AoC is going to have loads more interesting pve content if everyone can zerg roll on you anyway and take you rewards, especially when it comes to major pve group content. I'm getting a very bad feeling the more people talk about huge, structured guilds.
Heres the problem. If you can have an alliance of multiple guilds, why cant you have one guild the size of an alliance? Because we know larger orgs will just fill up multiple guilds, multiple alliances, where the division of their numbers becomes practically meaningless

Even I didnt have a chance to watch that vod. Been really busy but I did manage to catch asmondgolds video and even I thought they announced a mega server because of that π didnt make sense to me considering the work they put in for the node system but I sure as hell accepted it as truth lol. And im someone who stays up to date with ashes for the most part. Im a little less busy this week so i appreciate you putting this video out correcting my misunderstandings

Its interesting to see how people are not understing the information being provided by the AOC team. You are done a great job explaining it and breaking down the streams so the everyday person can understand. However some of these larger streamers are 1000% missing information and just pushing points that are incorrect.
