In Steven Sharif’s most recent interview about #AshesofCreation he gave us a bit of new information on how battle pets will work. The system is starting to seem a lot more like Pokemon. This video will be covering my thought on combat pets in Ashes and other games. Let me know what you think!

  1. Although I love pokemon, I have never enjoyed battling with them. I am a collector type poke trainer. I'd be happy with ashes integrating a combat pet system, but not a full pet battling side game, like WoW did. Great video!

  2. If combat pets are like ffxiv companion chocabo, where it’s not required but it can help for solo open world content, I could be okay it. Would prefer if they were strictly a collectible to show off.

  3. Im my opinion i feel like it will be closer to the hunter class in WoW but more balanced.

When the lone wolf talent came out you could opt into being petless or have pets as standard.pets always had trees, tenacity, ferocity and cunning. It wasnt that sophisticated but there were unique pet abilities i.e. spiders get web, bear gets an aoe taunt there was also an armour stripping ability.

Pets were also just existing mobs in the world. Normal, rare or elites.

There were rare pets such as the spirit pets in wotlk even with a unique ability (spirit heal).

I think that honestly keeping it like this but a better balance between pet or petless (in wow one was always definitively better) and otherwise that system would be perfect as you could hold 5~ pets at one time to swap between and stable 20 or so at towns.

Honestly that, with some balance, to ME, would be perfect!
