  6. It depends on how much Steven is willing to commit resources to it. If BG's will be an after thought in terms of development then no, don't do it. Else, sure go for it, but then it begs the question "why".

    There is only 1 thing that BG's offer that open world combat does not. It brings LIKE MINDED people together. People in a BG want to be in a BG. No one in a BG was suddenly ported into 1 against their will. The BG's in WoW are nice. Loved AV personally. Sure you would get PvP gear to do more AV. At some point there really is no reason to do it. BG's with PvP gear are a parasitic design choice. It generally offers nothing outside itself. The ultimate test of parasitic design is if you take it away, it not being there will not affect the rest of the game. Take BG's and PvP gear away and WoW would still function. You can still PvP in PvE gear. Take castle siege for example. If we took it away, there would be no way for nodes to lv down. That would make castle sieges a core mechanic and not a parasitic one.

    PvP gear separates development of gear into 2 categories instead of 1, which later bleeds into developing 2 sets of skills instead of 1. At that point just make a different game if every single piece of content has 2 versions PvP and PvE.

    The comparison to GW2 is spot on because that is the game AoC is emulating. Analyzing GW2's WvW will tell them all they need to know about what NOT to do. Don't do AoE caps. Don't do fast travel. Don't do insane effect (too late).

  7. I think if Ashes will balance BGs its on the number of participants because Steven said AoC will not have balanced class system, instead they will opt to rock paper scissors. And I agree with them. it is impossible to balance 64 class.
