  1. What still bothers me about New World is that you can't craft ANY of the cool unique clothing/armor that mobs drop or you get from chests. It's just the same boring, generic linen/leather stuff over and over until crafting levels up… ugh. What a wasted opportunity for an amazing crafting experience. Not to mention how boring it is to know exactly where all the closest iron and hemp spots are instead of those resources respawning in different locations each time so you have to explore to find them. Ashes of Creation would do well to learn from stuff like this.

  2. Until we reach Journeyman in P2 crafting won't be needed or until the leveling after level cap gets higher and content gets so difficult it's worth to get crafted items . My legendary Apprentice Jewelry can be farmed just as easily in Carphin or another high level area. I'm lvl 20 miner and lvl 11 Jewel crafter, 17 Stone mason. Did the same in P1. The cost of processing and crafting a crafted item is less that what a person is willing to pay for some items which is unfortunate. Also, novice level crafting will always be a grind and a money sink imo. You can level to 10 in a few hours, why buy low level gear? I was able to get to 10 by running silly amounts of maps, i've started so many alts to run maps once my character got bugged.

  3. I stopped playing phase 2 because of this exact issue. I was under the impression the launch of phase 2 was to test nodes and professions. Clearly that will actually come later. I'm a profession main and after 100 of grinding I have come to the conclusion that early game professions have no place in the current build AoC. Once the systems are updated to make artisans viable, then I'll be back. Hopefully it is in a much better state before phase 3.

  4. Here is how crafting works in AoC:
    1. you only craft heroic or higher gear for yourself.
    2. you mass produce grey quality items and give them to your node for node progression quests.
    3. when level 50 is implemented you will be able to craft the best gear in the game, but since the current level cap is 25 you will be competing with low level drops.

remember that people like me dont craft, so at low levels getting good gear is necessary for every players experience. How you get that gear should be by doing what you enjoy. at endgame crafting BIS items will be your reward.

  5. Yo I used to watch your dbd and vhs stuff, I see we're both still interested in barely functionning games that have a good chance to be dead on arrival. Glad to see you again

  6. Low level crafting needs some love. I wanted to create an epic or legendary piece of gear around level 10-11 and it was going to cost me about 7 gold to craft unless I grinded out all the materials myself. I ultimately gave up on that because I realised I could just hit level 20 and just use green/blue gear which gave around the same stats as a legendary lv 10 piece if not more, but cost almost nothing.
After hitting 20 I revisited my crafting options only to find that some of the legendary components I gathered on my levelling journey were no longer useful as they were not needed in the lv 20 crafts.
I feels like the best option in the current state of the game is to just sell almost all materials on marketplace to build up a gold pile and then invest at max level.

  7. The cost in both resources and processing fees to level crafting skills up to apprentice and journeyman are crazy, take weapon smith as an example, you are going to have to make hundreds of novice weapons and both options suck, you either need a ton of cooper, the rarer of the two novice metals, and make copper weapons no one will buy at the price you need to keep your crafting up, or you make sanctus weapons which are better then copper but require sanctus emblems that don't drop super often and have to be farmed, likely you will end up having to buy them off players for an exaggerated price there by not making it a viable option either. Drop rates on all of these materials really need to be looked at. Would love to see a dev actually try to craft on a live server. They say they don't want mega guilds, but realistically, only those in mega guilds that are feeding a select few crafters are really going to profit. A small group is def not going to be able to compete at the level of cost and scarcity they currently have in the game.
