  1. Hopefully we can all agree that a delay is better than another No Man's Sky situation.

I would rather see them push things out than sell a dream and have this end up a complete flop.

In game dev there are just far to many unknown-unknowns to try to nail a perfect deadline. They should just give a time range and leave the deadlines internal.

  2. Great Video. The ashes community definitely is getting more and more difficult to please as they wait for alpha 2. Intrepid hasn't done anything wrong people just need to chill out.

  3. I agree, slides and newsletters (just like Star Citizen) for updates would be great. Let me read it in the dark and in silence so my wife doesn't murder me for having my phone on at 1am. To your point, it does take a lot of time to put this type of information together on a consistent bases and it will interrupt teams doing actual work on the game itself.

  4. I think this is the right mindset as people on the outside looking in. Yes some of us paid for keys but were not boardmembers or share holders. How much it is and what its being spent on shouldn't matter. They are proving time and again they are introducing new systems and making engines to make the game better. We should be more focused on the content of the game itself.

  5. Thanks for explaining your viewpoint. I enjoy hearing all sides in regards Ashes, and I tend to reflect on how different people approach the game. For me, personally, Ashes is just a show at this stage. The game will not appear for several years, I am quite certain, and the process is entertaining.

  6. Ashes existence threatens whatever MMO they're currently playing.

  7. I think what we are seeing is Stevens experience in the corporate world. He doesn’t have a board of investors that in a normal company he would have and he is just treating the community as those investors, which in a way they are. I agree that any media that takes away from the development should cease but he does have a social media team that isnt actually in developing the game that could do updates in a non invasive manner

  8. yea see my biggest issue was the content creators were matching the trolls energy and lumping people with good feedback with the trolls. no one in this community thinks the game is a scam. they lose money if the game isnt what it is promised to be. people that dont care about the alpha prices and beta packaging just shouldnt have said anything and should just give criticism and feedback on the things they actually care about wether that be combat or gameplay systems. certain topics and issues are gonna bring in people that are gonna be vocal and it should because those are the people who want to give feedback and critisism about that certain thing or topic. just because the vocal is a minority doesnt mean that the feedback shouldnt be taken cause the majority might just be the people who dont give a shit about the thing that is being talked about. Another issue was you and vladhus said there is no fomo but i promise you some people in a guild in ashes will have a fear of missing out if they dont get in cause they will want to connect with there guild and make relationships before the games launch and that is just my personal example of fomo also this is backed up from seeing other guild discords.

  9. i agree whole heartily, 1. a delay to make Ashes better , I'm all for it, 2. release i feel that the choice for weekends is super smart to give time to make sure queues and login issues are addressed before we start getting in full time. 3. if they need more people to make sure dynamic servers are working , then yes bring in more testers, as for cost i dont care get people in to test properly. 4. when it is ready to test all content I'm here for it. keep up the good work Intrepid.

  10. The problem with the showcases are, they don't represent how the game actually looks or plays, it's extremely misleading what they show compared to reality, intrepids communication is next to zero and A2 launch is going to destroy intrepids reputation

  11. Yeah, been following for almost 7 years, don't care about the business side of things, I care about the results I can see and criticisms I have of that.
Now, that said, I know how the sausage is made, and they do it differently than "industry standard" and certainly aren't "industry communicators".
WE wanted DIFFERENT than the crap we have now, right? Do we "need" another "Ubisoft"/"Blizzard"? Not really, so that requires maverick behavior. LOL

  12. I’m just exhausted of all the click bait Ashes content. It’s sad that some content creators are more interested in views than the game actually being good. I would love to see nodes 2.0 article and more articles on things that have been shown that really needs updated info. I think this could resolve so many people being misinformed about what Ashes actually is.

  13. As someone who bought a key in the past when they were more expensive; I am not at all bothered that they reopened the keys or that they extended the new keys value to include beta. While A1 was supposed to help test server stability, they've switched engines since then, so even A2 not being persistent as originally planned, doesn't really rub me the wrong way. They probably need to retest their server setup for stability and performance. That just logically makes a lot of sense to me. Adding more people probably helps them stress test that? The alphas and betas were always meant as real testing phases, so whatever they need to test–let them test that!

Running a server is expensive–and they plan to have it up for months without getting paid through subs, so the keys being expensive makes sense too! I felt like a lot of the controversy over this was a big ol' nothing burger.

However, I was a little disappointed at their presentation announcing A2. Not upset, just a little disappointed. I guess I was expecting a more of a well-oiled announcement? The slides were riddled with spelling errors, which is probably because they're in a state of crunch right now and some poor dev realized they had to put the slides together last-minute. But on top of the spelling errors, there was one section that was copy pasted from phase 2 to phase 3; making me unsure which phase those things would be rolled out in. There was also previously unheard of things mentioned in there that Steven and Margaret never went over or defined. Even visiting their wiki a few days later to get clarification those things are still undefined with no links. What is "Gear Ascension"? What is "The Turquoise Sea"? Did one of the seas get renamed? Is it new? Where are "The Anvils"???

I know the devs are in crunch, but there is a whole community/communications department that Margaret heads. Like, can't someone from there at least clarify some of it?

I guess I'll find out when I can hop in and playtest. I guess I was just disappointed that the announcement for something I've been looking forward to for literal years, felt like a cobbled together last-minute thought by the team announcing it. It didn't seem to reflect or share my excitement. I'm still looking forward to giving feedback and helping! I'm hoping that the lackluster announcement just means that all their focus really was lasered in on the actual gameplay and system functionality of A2 and the game itself.
