Read more about Ashes of Creation ➜ https://ashesofcreation.mgn.tv

Ashes Of Creation has a lot of intricate systems. One of which is augments. A different approach to skills and class system modifiers. We haven’t received an update on this system in some time, but it appears we got a sneak peek in the recent node showcase.

  1. I think if they keep the augment system pretty simple and it's going to be great. If its complicated is going to be a balance nightmare. I think this sample of changing rapid shot to frost is a really good example of a simple change that can make augments work

  2. I don't have an specific knowledge about Augments, but I am very interested Ranger/Rogue (Scout), and Summoner/Ranger (Beastmaster).

I expect Scout to combine Camouflage, which is Stealth at a distance, with some Rogue Stealth, up close and personal.

I have heard that Beastmaster lets you customize your Summons, kind of like Animal Husbandry.

For testing, I will be starting with Cleric for sure, and probably Mage, but I have no idea what to expect from Secondaries.

Since Alpha 2 only goes to level 35 I believe, we won't see many Augments until probably Launch.

  3. Augments and similar mechanics always add depth to builds which I find, and I think many find, very enjoyable. Balance can be tough but I have seen it work in past MMOs to create a wide variety of different builds and that made for some more varied PvE and especially great PvP. Really looking forward to Ashes, this could be an MMO with the most end-game depth we'd ever had and with possibly the best open-world & strategic/goal oriented PvP ever. Housing, crafting etc., all looking great. Normally I find RvR is the best way for an MMO to have consistent PvP but Ashes' design seems it will provide an all new and very active end-game for PvE & PvP. Here's hoping!

  4. I watched the slowed down segment of the shots several times and I would have to say that it appears to be two separate abilities. The first was the blue elemental (ice) shot, then a perceptible pause, and finally three quick shots in succession with green SFX. The second three shots affected the ice, rather than having an ice effect. Lastly, he fired a last single shot with a green SFX at Steven or the piglet. I'd say only the first shot has any possibility of being an augmented ability, but it could also just be a base ability. Time will tell, of course, and if you wind up being right you win a cookie. πŸ˜›
