What is Ashes of Creation?
Ashes of Creation is a unique take on the MMO experience. Our world structure is dynamic and built to react to the actions of our players. Cities will rise and fall, their populations based on the history of the world as the players create it. Quests will unlock as these populations gather, their needs grow, and secrets are unlocked. As the world’s NPC structure is established in real time, players will have the ability to destroy what they’ve created, paving the way for new development, new populations, and real change. Political strife and intrigue will play a very real role in the structure of your world. Gone are the days of static worlds, change is here to stay.
Risk Vs Reward
All across Verra, you have the opportunity to experience massive warfare, participate in epic trade caravans, and gather valuable components to craft exquisite items. Not only will your fellow players be your adversaries; the creatures of the land and the very environment itself will pose a constant and fresh challenge. Will you siege castles to become royalty, defeat other guilds to showcase your prowess, shape the marketplace by being a successful trader, or earn renown by developing your artisan crafting skills? This is your story, you tell us!

Personally, I don't care about people looking different. I'm just looking forward to playing Ashes. If they bought it, let them wear it. Just my 2 cents.
I have two thoughts on it, and they kinda compete with each other. But, the bottom line is this. Six months into the game, I won't care if someone can make a new character and immediately throw on some kind of costume, awesome and spectacular, or plain and mundane, I won't care. But on launch day, and those first few critical weeks, I want everyone to earn every last bit of progression they get, be it actual or visual, or otherwise. I want it all earned. It would be really cool if Intrepid just put a blanket 3 month, or 6 month ban on all costumes. After that, go nuts. I don't see it happening, but I'd be totally down.
I would prefer if anything you wear is achieved in game and not a cash shop BUT that isnt the direction they are going so ill say this. Please allow the launch experience to be un effected by visual paid progression. First day or two or three let the world develop and then when that time is up let people go crazy with cosmetics. I would like the players to develop the world before we start to see crazy cosmetics running around. I feel like its a good middle ground(not really even middle ground only asking for 1-3 days so definitely weighted to people who love cosmetics).
To the point of the video…visual progression is 100% a thing. Seeing someone wear the chestplate of baddassery and knowing they had to do some crazy stuff to get it is amazing. If everyone is able to wear something awesome from the start then they effect of something else achieved in game being cool is lessened.
Thanks for the video

Im fine with with costumes being available from lvl 1. As long as the gear you get from high lvl content is for sure better. Also, gear with glows wether it be helmet, badges, weapons etc should be limited to the earned in game gear imo.
I always thought that first you must craft for example plate armor, boots and other stuff and then apply cosmetics. I remember Steven said you first must get item in world. But in other hand we will have something like adventurer set. I can imagine from starting questing so maybe we can apply cosmetics on this one…
Visual progression is a core feature of any mmorpg. Purchasable cosmetics are counter-intuitive. I despise and dislike ANY cash shop features, even cosmetics only. Fuck that shit
I don't care either way. It all comes down to skill. As long as the threat identification system is dialed in and I know I can take that super cool looking level 10 is all that matters to me haha.
