  1. I have only ever done PvE, in EverQuest 1 almost twenty years ago. I see how central PvP is to Ashes, and I am willing to risk PvP as the price of entry.

What Ashes absolutely must not do is cater to PvE. Maybe they could add some additional PvE content, but the risk of PvP is absolutely necessary to make it work.

Maybe PvPers can hire themselves out to PvEers.

  2. I am not totally against PVP as long as it is not full loot drop pvp and I can go to places that are "Safe Zones" I will be alright. But with my understanding of how Ashes is. It should be fine.

  3. Depending on the corruption penality rate I feel most of the content in Ashes will be PvE. Only PvP I invision will be guild, node, and guild protection or expansion which will be by groups. Sure you may run across an pvp individual or small bandit group but I fear that will be rare. I worry there will be no corrupted players to hunt down for the bounty.

If the make the penality hurt then it will limit pvp. If it is too lax then it will be a free for all. It will all come down to the testing and tuning.

  4. I will always believe meaningful, group oriented, challenging PVE is the key to a truly successful MMO. Steven can achieve his vision without compromising on the PVE aspect of this game. If Steven wants these 500 v 500 sieges he’s taking about, he’s going to have to make the game casual friendly to an extent, and add meaningful PVE. Open world PVP doesn’t bother me, but I quit BDO when I realized that gear score is more important than player skill and that late game PVE is non existent.

Also, I almost guarantee that they will change it to dungeons being instanced. If your guild clears out a dungeon just to get ganked right before the final boss by another guild that’s a quit moment right there

  5. Come launch I think people will come to realize the amount of PVP won't be nearly as big of a issue as its being made out to be. I played BDO for a few years and while the very top spots were contested the 2nd or 3rd spots rarely were. Most players will simply run past looking for a open spot instead of trying to take yours if it's not the top spot.

If you want to avoid pvp just look for nodes where the largest guild is not a pvp one….or better yet join that guild.

Will you be able to avoid PVP entirely? No, but if your looking to avoid it it you won't get PK'd nearly as much as some people seem to think

  6. This is my major worry about this game. Some of us anti-social dudes just wanna gather and craft, and then a griefer comes along…
I'm not sure the corruption system will be enough to discourage griefing behavior.
