I did a small test to see how the rarity rating works in ashes of creation alpha 2, but it seems like it is currently bugged. I will do more tests in phase 2.

Good to know, most probably rarity setting is still not implement, another amazing one keep them coming mate!
speed raiting does not work either a legendary lumbering axe with 485 speed and other speeds from clothes wont change anything each tree small med big still takes the same amout of hits to chop :[ but quantity raiting is working but very small chance to get like 1/2 more wood with 312 rating on my axe
I would say there is still value in making the higher gathering tools due to the durability rating alone, you dont have to run back to the node to repair the higher ones.
