after seeing the Ashes of Creation Character Creator in todays Dev update I decided that I was wrong to be so critical of it. I now know why the hype is real for this Crowd funded MMO. its not another kickstarted heartbreak

I think I totally feel the same way, I have reservations due to the state of mmo's in general, but having looked into ashes of creation a lot, it has really grabbed my attention like no others have. I'll say this, I think the way they've presented it and what they've shown thus far indicates that at the very least, the game has the potential to be the best mmo since wow if they deliver what they say they're aiming for. Open world, non-pay to win, (subscription over "f2p" any day imho), unreal engine 5 (good graphics), tons of pvp based content like huge castle sieges, guild wars etc. It has a political system, with alliances, haha even mayors. The caravan system looks really interesting too. Its professions look really cool especially animal husbandry. One more thing is that a lot of multiplayer games contemporaneously, have multiple people playing however still playing alone, hopefully there will be a whole lot more incentive in this game to group up for quests and do a lot more content in a more community-oriented way, it sounds like that's also a concern Steven has and is trying to implement. Other aspects that are very advanced and will be revolutionary and non-static are things like the players shaping the world with the node system. Aspects such as these will keep the world in an ever-changing state of flux, and thus will keep the world interesting. I understand how you feel and must emphasize that it will be the coolest game since wow based on the contingency of "if they deliver what they say," I truly get the impression that Steven is pouring his soul into this, and he genuinely cares about the players and the state of mmo's. It's such a breath of fresh air to know that at the helm is a man who loves mmo's and has played them most of his life rather than some random corporate ceo who only cares about making as much money as possible and prioritizing that over a good player experience. Believe me, when you create an amazing game, the money will be there regardless because the game will speak for itself and the people will gladly buy it, but without the players, it's not possible. So, we ought to be made a priority, our experience needs to be tended to and made important, especially if you don't want some disaster of a game where the player base is super high at launch and then plummets. A game that has longevity at high population needs honesty and needs to put players' experience first.
Hey, I was led here by the algorithm (probably connected to my relative high consummation of ashes of creation videos, so the chance that Steven sees your video might be higher than you think 😉 ) and wanted to say that criticism of a game is a good thing. Of course bad faith and overbearing negativity is bad the same way as overhyping and fanboy positivity is, if you don't have a clear mind and stay open minded then you can easily overlook major things you haven't considered before. But if you see a thing that is bad or not as good as it could be, it's worth to point it out and say "hey, work on that bit more".
I too try not to let the hype get to me for ashes of creation, since the things you imagine it might become could exceed what is technically possible. I was of a similar mindset of not letting a failed kickstarter get to me (again), but the things I've seen in the last month from the team I think they are on the right path. Of course, things could still happen to knock them off path ( knocks furiously on wood ), but I'm confident that it will become a decent game. I hope for even more of course.
Anyway, I also wanted to tell you to keep your head up and don't feel too down about it, I'm sure Steven understands the feelings you described in your video. I hope my comment helps to bring your message to him.
