It is so large that maybe it will be hard to find other ships? Obviously they have some areas/events that draw ships to them but as far as trading goes, maybe it won't be as risky as in other games? I've played many naval combat games, usually it is far less realistic and much easier to find ships, but with such a large area… any idea? Hope it works really well, naval combat can be really epic on all scales.
I can't speak for others, but when Open Sea PvP was announced, a switch flipped in my brain.
I am a PvEer, and have never been interested in PvP. But I was so impressed with the design and ambition of Ashes of Creation, I was willing to give it a chance.
But after Open Sea PvP, somehow I am good with it, and embrace the "Pirate's Life."
I think part of it is that Open Sea PvP acts like a relief valve for Open PvP.
Looking forward to testing the Open Sea during the second half of Alpha 2.
It is my understanding that caravans will stop for a moment anywhere the land meets the ocean to transition into a naval unit and will not require a harbor. (confirmed)
Hopefully in the far future the game would include sea adapted races

Hard to predict what my great grandchildren will need to get them to the ocean in Ashes of Creation when it launches in 2095.
How about IN THE OCEAN? Like in GW2? Both ON the Ocean and IN the Ocean.
