Taking a look at Ashes of Creation augment system, and how they will use massive class and build diversity to achieve real balance for the first time ever, in any MMO.
The augment system really feels like a 64 unit Rock, Paper, Scissors map with sliders left, right, up and down to adjust within a limited degree. Lol. If there's anything within combat systems that pique my interests most, its seeing all of the different variations and discovering synchronizations that pair well with each other and my playstyle. Looking forward to A2!… and then waiting for the Augment system. Lol.
Brilliant vid, if it was showing class style and difference but you called it balance and then showed 4 options that looked challenging to balance. Stunning creativity but a nightmare to balance?😁
This system is a nightmare from a development standpoint, but from a players pov looks so enticing.
I can't imagine being able to augment every single skill and even additional skills that can be taken from the talent/skill tree.
This creates a massive workload from animations to skill effects, tons and tons of back end tie in. It could easily take them the next two years to implement even a portion of this an not have 90% of it be borked, if it truly does work on all skills.
It is a really cool idea though and I look forward to seeing it develop in A2.
Honestly, at least at first, I'm pretty sure what we'll see is a few build that do just dominate and a bunch of absolute trash builds.
Good thing is no one will know they're trash because we won't have meters😅.
I much appreciate this way of balancing. It let's me play the way I want instead of feeling the pressure to be meta all the time for everything. Ashes will be the first game in a long time which I don't follow a best build guide, and just play the game.
Ashes of Creation is shaping up to be like this great fictional MMO called Glory. It's from the Chinese novel/anime and also live-action Netflix show, The King's Avatar. I highly recommend it.
How can you possibly assert that having a variety of options for abilities without any numbers or info has "SOLVED Class BALANCE" as you claim in your title? Surely you can comprehend that having different options doesn't make those options balanced against each other or against other players using different abilities? The strongest abilities in the game will be the ones most used, just having multiple options is not a guarantee of balance in any way and it's insanely goofy to claim that.
"i guess necro is a healer, he's just always late…" lmao love that
Starting to drop more videos, again. Glad to see you more, homie.
Balance to the mmo genre…. on paper. 😆😆 Great topic. Good editing!
As always your videos are a pleasure Xillin. Great perspective! Easy to understand and to the point, and with humor to boot! Keep up the good work!

XillinAnimations… entertainment at its finest

Looks like old man Xillin has a few tricks up his sleeve.
How easy is it going to be to switch builds? Is it as easy as making and saving a build that you can switch to out of combat?
Ashes didn't solve shit. It doesn't even exist yet. Every theory sounds great in theory.
Dud, they need to hire you at this point! Great job!
Support for Algo!

You made me feel like I was back at the dinner table as a kid. You will watch it and like it, or you will watch nothing at all…..
Its not even out… This is not a solution….
Great explanation, hope we can test this in the alpha 2, we all know beside testing we will use that to learn the game to the bone 😂

this shit aint ever coming out
welp, that's so good I'll watch it twice and perhaps let it roll on repeat on mute few more times, just cause. <3
amazing what you can solve by never releasing

Real balance is some clickbait bullshit. Bit too early to jerk this off.

If that is the path they are going with augmenting skills with so many classes then Ashes of Creation would be released in the year 2030-2040. LOL
