I think the biggest concern for me is how early they started selling these cosmetic packs. If they started selling them 2 years before game launch instead of like 7+ years, then maybe people would hate less.
You can still have the npc, gear just in a slightly different colour. I'm pretty sure they've stated that cosmetics are just going to be one dye of an armor set and you can still earn the same style set in game. But I could be miss remembering?
The Ashes cash shop is ONLY selling skins which are from NPC's in-game.
This is a perk offered to people who buy-in to playtest the game.
