As the closing comments said do not buy into the alpha unless you really believe in supporting the game and want to TEST not play the game. You may see ppl “playing” the game when testing is up however it is pretty bare bones not much content right now with a lot of bugs it is very much a test so do not buy if you are looking to play a full game. Can’t tell you how many ppl I’ve seen crying in the past that they spent all this money not know what an alpha is and that it isn’t a full game. I am saying this as someone who has sunk money into the game as I believe in its development and eventual success and someone who has put in dozens of big reports if not more during this phase of testing.

I'm a little nervous because it looks just like ESO, and ESO doesn't… drive well. Like wow has a feeling when you move and it has weight to it… ESO feels weightless, and this looks weightless so far.

I truly believe in AoC, and want it soooo badly. I gladly paid $120 for Alpha II, and I'm excited every weekend for it to open again.
you need to researtch the corruption system. A PvP event when its sanctiond, like a caravan run, Guild war, etc. should not drop items on death. Only time you can drop items is if you kill someone who were not part of the fight at all.
As it stands today you get high exp loss and you lose 1-3 on death if corrupetd lvl 1:
Now this is way overtuned Steven have said that this is not what release is going to look like when it comes to corrution.
A note on the wording of "pricing": these packages are simply a good faith donation that comes with testing access. Do not join or pay a dime if you do not absolutely want to help testing and strongly believe in the vision, even if it does not come out. Otherwise just wait. The game will be a 15$/month subscription with no box cost, that's it. No early start for backers, no convenience or pay2win cash shop. Just a flat 15$/month. And if the game never releases, then you haven't wasted a dime by simply waiting.

the thing with the alpha keys not including the beta… the Alpha servers are going to continue through the beta process, where like the Private Testing Realm (which runs along side the Alpha testing Realms) the Alpha servers do not STOP when the Beta testing phase begins. A LOT of people are unaware of this. And again, as always, the game is 15/mo no box cost, anyone can wait until the full release of the game and watch other content creators to assess the game. No one is forcing anyone to buy to play test the alpha or beta versions of the game. The purchase price is an investment in the game, a donation to the game, that we get to play test is an added benefit that comes with your donation.
Activision is dead garbage, ashes is better than any MMO out right now, for me at least. Community, exploration, the whole shebang! I would definitely pony up the money to be part of this experience!!
only thing i will coment about your video, is the lvl situation, steven is doing what old mmos used to be a slow lvling and was alot more fun where each it would creat meaning on the char, the people you would find in the world the higher you would get compared to the majority of modern mmos, where everything is done in 2 weeks just because of "endgame"
and tbh endgame in the majority of this mmos could just be its own game instead of being part of a mmo
Corruption is in exactly to strongly punish killing non-combattant/innocent players. It's meant to be extremely punishing. You still have the option to do it though, if you're willing to take on the punishment. There's plenty of other systems to engage in PVP without any penalty, on top of lawless zones (everyone freely attackble), including the whole ocean content. Granted, a lot of it isn't in-game yet, but I expect the corruption system to stay extremely punishing, since you're essentially killing and looting mats off a non-combattant. That keeps the danger alive of if you're being a dick you can still be killed, but you really have to weigh in the risk/reward before killing an innocent.
120$ not just for the alpha, if i am not wrong, the alpha is like a year+, and gives you access to the beta+ 1 month free when the game actually releases. So all things considered, a pretty good deal. It was probably made intentionally to be attractive to streamers and content creators because for access to good content for more than a year, they can easily monetize that.

Listening to him talk to Pirate Software, it seems IMPOSSIBLE for Steven to simply be a front man for a scam. Every time Thor asked a question Steven was automatically putting his Bug Hunting hat back on and internally categorizing the thing Thor described as Intended, Bug, or Interesting Emergence. You could see the wheels turning. And sure, when it was Intended he was playing up the vision; It is part of his job to advocate for his product. But when it was a bug he was willing to say so, even if Thor didn't express having a problem with it, and more than that he was conversant with the tech behind it, to a level a scam artist wouldn't bother with.
He also has some points he repeats in different interviews but he has a LOT of new info every interview, which would be deeply abnormal for a scammer; They're pretty consistent about having their 4 pieces of cleverly written ad copy they drum out every chance they get.
$550 for a lifetime subscription to AoC is not bad deal.
A2 has been great. Made a 2h spellsword cleric. took the Divine Empower for instant judgements, which stacks burn, smite turns it to conflagrate and condemn stuns for 4 seconds. IF you have a wand or a spellbook ranged, it can proc burning too. I have been having a ton of fun. Looking forward to more! Played AoC combat, came back to SOD and I was liike damn WoW boring af lol

First time watching you. I like your videos but when it comes to the "Pricing" I think you need to put more thought into what you are talking about. You need to see what the plan for the game is. What payment system is the goal and the costs as well. People are completely taking a lot of this out of context. No one is forcing anyone to purchase a $500 pack for testing a game. Have patience for the game to come out if you feel this isn't for you.

Really liked your input here. Would recommend though to get it a little condensed, I was listening to you talk while gaming which was fine, but I felt like you could've cut a lot more of what you said and made it shorter. That way more people would stick around. Keep going!
