if soda had just stopped and thought for 5sec im sure he wouldve figured it out, but hes too used to being told what to do he couldnt do that anymore
Soda has been a WoW player for so long his brain forgot how to learn an MMO :p He's used to just being the all knowing god that needs to brush up on some new knowledge every WoW patch and now he gets dumped into a totally different style of MMO and has to learn from scratch. That's aught to bring about some frustrations initially. I do hope for him he does give it another go on launch though when more info is out there for him to study because given the resources to just learn the game without being confused 90% of the time I think he'd be able to reach pretty high.
I think what will scream "that's Ashes" isn't necessarily a specific artstyle or excessive detail that nobody's ever done before, but rather the sheer volume of world they've got to work with. If they can make every node feel sufficiently different from each other over the entire insanely large map, that will scream Ashes. "I can walk straight ahead for 3 hours and never see the same thing twice, what game am I playing?" That's setting yourself apart from the rest as well right? Part of that is going to be node progression too because some will just objectively be different from one another because different guilds will be handling things differently or just have different capacities to improve the areas than others right so that's going to bring a lot of dynamic to the world which will naturally come into play once we head to a more global launch. But if they can get node diversity in a place where you'll need to try very hard to see a repeating area they'll be absolutely golden regarding the "that's ashes" part because what MMO has that?
I agree. Piratesoftware got the most realistic opinion on the game
I remember Esfand being a huge proponent of getting official vanilla WoW back in the 2016-2020 days. Striked me as a very good guy.
Great video! Subscribed!
People are so used to being spoon-fed content in games. This is meant to be an old-school-style MMO, where discovering the content is part of the experience. There’s something deeply satisfying about figuring things out for yourself—you get a sense of accomplishment beyond just questing for XP and leveling up. In this game, I feel you need patience, common sense, and a bit of grit.
Your points at 8:15 about Sodapoppin was actually kind of surprising to me because I never thought of it that way.
I’ve been following this game since the LazyPeon vid 4 years ago and I’ve watched all the livestreams and went through the wiki.
I was oblivious to the fact that people would have bought into this game and would know “0” about it. Lol
