Ashes of Creation seems to have a lot of hate behind it, but is it accurate, and if so why?

Stevens AA Speech: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQQmahflej8

Ashes of Creation is a unique take on the MMORPG experience. Our world structure is dynamic, and built to react to your actions. Cities will rise and fall as you shape the world of Verra. Quests and secrets will unlock as populations gather and their needs grow. As the world’s NPC structure is established in real-time, you will have the ability to destroy what’s been created, paving the way for new developments, populations, and change. Political strife and intrigue will play a very real role in the structure of your experience. Gone are the days of static worlds; change is here to stay!

  1. My thoughts. Not saying You specifically, just something I noticed.
-The whole point of Ashes having show cases and lives is so that.. For giggles and squiggles? No for People to criticize then they can keep working off that to make the ultimate MMO.
-I do hate that content creators are OVERLY positive and under critical of Ashes because of the haters and trolls. If You say anything negative, You're "one of them".
-Because it's alpha 2 doesn't mean we shouldn't criticize because what if they never fix it? It's not being a d**k to intrepid it's about catching stuff early before it's "too late".
-The Fighter visuals, animations were on point. But sadly the abilities were slow, clunky, janky and didn't flow in my opinion. For a Fighter that's all about mobility, just because there's 3 gap closers doesn't mean that everything's fine and dandy.
-Blitz for example, would charge Steven to a mob/player several times and they would keep running in a direction and get a fair distance from Steven with JUST BASE MOVE SPEED. That thing needs a 0.5 second stun or root to make it feel and function like it should, just as an example..

-The charged up attacks are cool, but there's an awful lot of them and not an awful lot of CC. Where's the flashy dashy no cast time move around shake it all about Fighter option? In Dual wield? Does Dual wield have different abilities and passives? Because what We saw seemed to be based around using a two hander.. More specifically a two handed slashing weapon that stabs and cuts and bleeds. What if I use a Hammer or Mace? Will they still have the same bleed and cutting and slicing skills even when using a Mace? like ESO has and it just doesn't fit at all with blunt weapons?

There's just so much to be desired and thought about I don't understand how anyone can say It's perfect or 10/10 at this stage. Like come on.

A lot of these People, saying it's overhyped I kind of see where they're coming from because.. Steven has said a lot of things but we haven't seen a lot of it in action and it could well fail and be too ambitious or not what was promised and Steven has promised a lot. I want it to be true, I want to believe it I want it to be awesome but I understand the perspective that they could bloody well take a wrong turn and get a lot of things wrong. They set the bar so high themselves not Us, so it's that balance of not expecting too much there's a limit for everything but making sure the core fundamentals of what was promised get nailed I don't envy Intrepid because it's super difficult to re-surge and reinvigorate an entire genre.

  2. The biggest issue people have is the mmorpg genre is stale with nothing but WoW clones and then comes an indy game that is innovating the genre with things like dynamic weather, the node system, dynamic quests, etc. Their biggest problem with AoC is that it has always-on PvP so they will not attempt to play the game despite it having innovative pve experiences. So they lash out like children because they will never get what a pvx game is offering. It's a tantrum and nothing more. That is why they make up excuses to why they think it will fail.

  3. I really want AoC to be good because I plan on playing it, but I can't stand Steven.
The guy is dishonesty personified….his brain is hardwired for marketing (which is 95% deception) and the only reason he is beating the no p2w, consumer-feedback-nice-guy developer drum so hard is because he sees the market for it, not because he's such a cool gamer dude who just wants to make a good mmo for all the lonely hearts out there…

All that doesnt mean that we won't get a decent, non-p2w (but still heavily monetized) mmo out of this at some point, but that doesnt change the fact that every time Steven opens his mouth, I get the feeling that he's spinning yarn and it turns me off of the project tremendously….

  4. What hate?
I’ve seen criticisms about the game’s development and concerns for the future, but I’ve not seen any hate

Then again, I haven’t been paying much attention to it
When is the next playtest supposed to drop?

  5. Ashes is a pvp focussed game. 90% of the MMO audience does not want to play that game and shortly after leveling up in that game they will realize that this is not what they want and they will quit. Same as with New World.

  6. I completely disagree with the graphics hate. The game has come a long way and is only making massive strides month after month in that regard.

Stay mad haters. I hope your impatience eats you alive.

    Great video

  7. I hate Ashes of Creation because despite the huge number of people in the community and the supposed hype behind it, not one person has the means or the finances to commission rule 34 artwork of Ashes of Creation. Where my Tulnar Hentai at?

  8. The forums have become similar recently. I think it's just easier cognitively to take a polarised position, and some people don't want to be seen to be joining Team Hype. So 'Team Hate' tends to attract the midwits, regardless of the actual game/topic.

  9. After 8 years and probably more than 60Millions $
The game literally does not exist !!! Even this punk of Narc said it
Moreover it is a PvP focus with the same gameplay ( a pur copy/paste) as GW2
    Dead on arrival

  10. Im just curious how ppl will react to the monthly fee aspect. I dont see ppl willing to pay a monthly fee for a game that isnt established yet. Unless it releases and just blows peoples minds. Ppl want to compare it to WoW when WoW is in a world of its own and i dont even play it.

  11. I honestly couldnt give a shit about the cost of the testing phase. I paid for it because i want to assist in the testing and provide honest feedback to assist their development. Its not like they are a massive company that has hundread of games bringing money in each day for them. So if it costs me a few bucks to help the development its fine by me. I am sure most people complaining about the costs spend money on other games for the exact things
