  1. WoW is very casual and somewhat a simple esport/minmaxing ishh game, even classic and burning crusade are. Ash look like a pure mmorpg, a type of game most of us dont really like because of the gameplay.

  2. As a 15 year wow vet … FF14 may dethrone wow. It’s good 👍🏻. And classic Wrath? TBC looks to be already struggling . I really don’t think classic wrath is going to be that popular. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  3. So you paid 500$ for a game that might come out in two years? And WoW will probably kill itself not only because they will add server transfers and wow tokens along many other things which will ruin the economy and the stability of the realms but the Classic experience will probably be mediocre since Activision will delay or rush anything that could make more profit. p.s. i am personally looking to play new world and lost ark for the time being

  4. Can Ashes of Creation dethrone WoW? No.
AoC is a fundamentally different game from WoW. If you play WoW and love prog raiding, running M+, and/or really hate PvP then you're REALLY not going to like AoC. It's far fairer to compare it to Eve Online and Archeage.
Speaking of PvP you never really mentioned it which is a shame b/c it's integral to nearly every pillar of the game…and is the fuel for the big events like Sieges which is how Nodes will cycle throughout the lifespan of the game

  5. The project management requirements for a game to dethrone WoW are immense and frankly highly unlikely.
WildStar had an incredible formula, gameplay so actively engaging it was mentally exhausting, BANGER PvE.
But what it was not… was nimble. A Vanilla WoW type turnaround time for needed changes is NOT viable today.

  6. FF14 is just the "new" shiny thing for all the wow players only because Asmon has been talking about it even though its also an ancient game. Its been out so long I feel like its just getting a temporary popularity spike then everyone will move back to wow or the next new thing in a month or two.

  7. As much as I like WoW, I don’t really have time to play it at the level I want anymore. As a dad gamer, WoW classic is just too time consuming. Retail WoW I’m trying again for 9.1 but will likely quit within 2 months. I downloaded FFXIV but it’s a slow start so far. Ashes looks really neat.

I love Warcraft combat, but there isn’t a whole lot of Meaningful content for a casual dude.

  8. Personally, I haven't ever been more excited for a game than I am for Ashes. And I been playing games since before Dark Ages of Camelot and Everquest. Can't wait to see all the content in july.

  9. Let’s be real, the current WoW as we know it is nothing but vaporware and anyone who disagrees is just a battered housewife waiting for their long lost high school love to come bursting through the door.

You have these new MMOs doing their usual thing of drawing players in for a couple of weeks then you have FF14 which is just the silent juggernaut that has never competed with WoW before because they barely feel like the same genre.

  10. As sombody who has been follow AoC since the KS, It's definetly not what the masses think it's going to be, everyone is hyping it up to be some wow killer, but it's not casual, it's hardcore, it's got loot drop pvp, lots of eastern inspiration, need resources to repair items, basically all the things that wow players and western audience hate about MMO's that already exist.

  11. The pure amount of systems they are putting into this game will make it inaccessible for many players.

The hype will die rapidly after people realise they can't do everything due to the artificial content gates at the core of the game.

I'd be surprised if it has a bigger and more constant player base then New World 6 months after release.

  12. It appears that lately, WoW is doing a good job of unseating itself. However WoW and Ashes are completely different games and probably won't even share a common player base. If Ashes can pull ten percent of players from WoW I would be surprised. I see more of the WoW players heading towards New World, but as others have stated, time will tell.
