  1. Im surprised Josh mixed them up. He's like, the guy, for clear, researched topics. Then again, he's human. And that he does make mistakes makes him more reliable to me. It means its his doing, and he isnt just like. Following whatever the internet says should be said. Its his views. He made a mistake. And Im sure hes all ready made an update video saying he fucked up.

  2. Asmon is 100% wrong when he talked about game competition. If you make a good game and you advertise it well, you'll find success. It doesn't matter what the competition is doing. In fact, there isn't a single good game that failed because "X game did it better". thye all failed because they were bad or were badly advertised

  3. To be fair, the hype around the RIOT MMO is not that strange considering it's a multi BILLION dollar company with a 100+ million player base. They simply wouldn't announce anything without having had it in pre-production for 2+ years and already have a budget of $500+ million for dev. How would they not release something at least very decent?

  4. IF Josh was talking about ashes of creation, he would know that all of these things that have been discussed were promised from the kickstarter, therefore it's not feature creep it's living up to what you promised your backers.
However I really think narc is correct he's mixed the games up. I'm not particularly upset about that, but it seems like it's the case.

  6. IMHO: It's vaperware until it isn't. And that's not a dig on the AoC creators. For years, they've been promising everything I want in an MMO. That's great! I really hope they pull it off and I'll even preorder when it's time. But their goal is extremely ambitious and could easily never materialize and I've accepted that reality. But I'm glad someone's trying and I hope they succeed!

  7. i said it under Vladhus video too and still stand by it

"Asmongold put it in a good way (cant quote him exactly):

the core game has to be fun, if its fun you will create alts and play through everything again

that is the content that mmo's should have and focus on

What JSH is referring to is that AoC has to come out and show that the core systems are good (combat, leveling, …) or it will become another Star Citizen thats really ambitious but its never coming out

the barn is full of promises, but at the end its nothing but promises"

and when i hear about AoC i feel that there are more and more untalked about stuff being added, while i would really just like a condensed and perfected experience

  8. Can't Intrepid dictate what is a "failure"? I have not looked up the terms if they are available in its entirety, but I wouldn't be shocked nor put it past a company to pull something like that.

  9. For people who are curious why he has so many pizza boxes behind him: they are called munchy boxes which is a thing in the UK in which it contains an assortment of fast foods in a box (Chicken wings, kebab meat, chips etc.).

  10. I think I need to finally make the choice to unsubscribe to Asmon etc.

This crap is doing nothing for me.

Games are for losers, I spent years of my life gaming before I understood this.

  11. Josh was asked about Ashes Of Creation during a live stream so he commented that because the game seems to have so many systems and mechanics, that it won't have a core identity. That's it. Not particularly inflammatory or controversial. This comment was clipped into a 3 minute video and then this dude probably spent probably 10+ hours writing, filming, and editing a response that was largely predicated on something that wasn't even true, the notion that Josh somehow mixed up the games. He may have accidentally attributed a mechanic from one to the other but the concern is equally as valid.

  12. Point 1:
Josh: "~…they should just focus on a solid core experience before you enhance the game with everything else (additional features etc.)…that if they don't release with enough features to put every MMO to shame, then they believe they are going to fail…"
Asmon: "~That's not true… that they wouldn't fail if they don't release without all the features …they just need to 'Be a Good Game' , ~(look at valhiem etc.)"

    Point 2:
Josh: "~Most MMO's release with a base game and then add the expansions as they grow… over time…"
Asmon: "~That's true, I think the problem is every base MMO that is released, is that it is judged against every other MMO that has a foundation of like 3 expansions…"

    Point 3:
Asmon: "~… you have to compete with other games and their value adds and if a game doesn't have those value-adds on release, then your game is DEAD ON ARRIVAL… "

(sounds like josh's original Point 1, made sense)
but overall it just seems like a fine line to walk and I generally agree with Josh here. As Asmon later went on to say clarifying his original stance, that it is in-fact true, the moment you come onto the market, you will be compared to a an mmo with tenure generally speaking.

Ultimately it seems like Asmon was saying AoC wouldn't fail if it didn't release with a bunch of comparable features to contemporary MMO's, but then later it sounds like he changed to saying it does need to release with comparable features to other MMO's to be competitive?
