  1. One thing that isn't being discussed and is a major flaw in AoC is Friendly Fire.
    From the showcases there doesn't seem to be friendly fire enabled in Ashes, having friendly fire would add a whole new layer of strategy to the game, it can just be 40% or 50% damage dealt and it would still help the balancing of huge group fights.

    Example 1: A party of 10 of mages serving as artillery and then 3 enemy rogues get inside their formation:
    No friendly fire: The mages just aim their skills at the inside and the rogues all get blasted and die quickly
    Friendly fire: The mages can't aim ther skills inside to not harm others and are rendered useless, having to completely rely on tanks and other fighters to keep the enemy away.

    Example 2: A zerg of 40 players go to attack a point, there is a group of 10 very coordinated players defending that point.

    No friendly fire: The zerg keeps stacking AoEs and skills on top of the point with no thought put into formation or any battle tactics, just use more skills to deal more big damage and kill enemy, the small group gets obliterated and have no chance of winning, pretty much what happend at the node war stream.

    Friendly fire: The uncoordinated zerg ends up severely harming their group from all the skill spam and melee attacking eachother, they aren't coordinated and so have almost no formation, the small group meanwhile are weaving through the big group and positioning themselves so the enemy is a meatshield for attacks. Here the small group have an actual chance of winning and it's all due to skill and teamplay. They can still lose if the bigger group is coordinated, but that just proves the skill of the enemy leader being able to manage such a big group.

    And it would also affect PvE too, with friendly fire you can't just stand all bunched up on the bosses feet and stack AoEs and blah blah, you would also need to coordinate attacks. This in turn makes world boss fights like the cyclops Tumok have a natural cap on players without needing to instance, if you keep stacking more and more players against Tumok you will just end up shooting and hitting eachother.

    Friendly fire also gives more depth to skills upgrades and whatnot, without friendly fire it's a no brainer to pick an upgrade that gives 30% more range to an AoE and no other downsides, but with friendly fire on it might not be the best choice to pick it.

    If Ashes was a casual mmo then i wouldn't see an issue in not having friendly fire, but since AoC is a game all about player interaction, large scale battles and PvX i really think it's a bad design decision in not including friendly fire in any capacity. Imagine playing Mordhau or Chivalry without friendly fire, it would suck so much.

  2. Too late, the bard showcase caused a copium overdose. Need to talk about it, i already made a build. Bard/fighter melee build. Here by known as the Sword dancer.
    The life steal melody and the enemy +damage taken melody both have flat % scaling with no need for spell power. So you can gear for full melee DPS.
    You max out talent trees for those 2 melodies, one handed swords and medium armor proficiency. Now you have a S-tier solo grinding build with a class that will also easily get in any party.

  4. I think the biggest issue with Intrepid and Ashes is that they want to do too many things at once. Look, all system look amazing in theory… But I always said I fear that most of them will be forgotten in small time. And it will be only trash abandones systems. The Caravan system is not that good. Its not rewarding. People will get tired of it.

    Why not make something smaller? Open world PvP/PK. Nation War. No need of additional "structures" and roads to follow. Idk, too many things and none of them are 100% good.

    The combat system need A LOT MORE improvement. Its not good, not acceptable for todays standard.

  6. the games UI and char visuals just look shit to me and something tells me this game is going to have every little thing locked behind a paywall, maybe not player power but everything else from bag space to looking good ingame and there will be some sort of soft reset which is what losing your house and business after a war will be. the game is going to be MTX heavey.
