  1. Asmond did this on purpose the man isn't an idiot he's just farming content. He knows damn well it's a pvp game. Could have easily had 3-4 people log with him to protect him from level 1-5 noobs pking him. Could have started the character off stream, got it somewhere safe then streamed. There are so many streamers playing right now and they aren't getting griefed.

  2. Might be an unpopular opinion but honestly I agree with the permabans. While the devs where too naive for not implementing a system that protects new players or players chilling in safe areas the players that griefed asmongold should not be part of an alpha 2 because inherently if you purchase a key or a bundle a such a high price I'm assuming you want to support the game and see the game succeed. Having a streamer – as much as i do not like asmon's content – leaving before even being able to portray to his viewers the game puts Ashes in a bad view.

Knowning this and choosing to do it anyway because of your own selfish reasons demonstrates a maturity of a 10 year old at best and even if you are doing it for the funny part of it having the game director telling you to stop should have been enough for you to take a moment and realize that what you are doing is detrimental to the game – if you can't even understand something as basic as this you deserve to be banned, period. You are not entitled to the alpha 2 and I'm expecting other alpha testers to show a minimum of courtesy and respect to the others as well to make the game succeed. Honestly I do not want to play with griefers and if we can lower their numbers I'm happy about it.

On the other hand although I enjoy PvP there is absolutely 0 satisfaction – at least for me – to kill much weaker players than me. If i'm level 13 and I'm fighting a level 12 that's completely fair; PirateSoftware had an issue with a guild trying to get him permabanned while streamsniping him and they became kill on sight for him and his guild till the point they were just pleading them to stop. Did Steven permaban them? No, because PirateSoftware and his guild had a fair chance to fight back. If at level 20 I would go around and kill levels 7 for example non stop I would expect a GM to warn me or get me a ban because I'm ruining the chances of other players experiencing the game and I'm as well lowering the chances to the game to succeed.

  3. Griefing is when some asshat keeps pulling mobs on top of you constantly in a PvE game to disrupt your play or kill you. In a PvX game, you have the option to show that player the risk of their actions. 👊 I find it amusing griefing is always associated with PvP games, yet in my experience it happens far more in PvE games because there is no consequence.

  4. its very hypocritical to say being able to kill someone non consensual and make you feel good does not make the other person who will definitely feel bad because they just die and lost everything non consensually

  5. in no MMO, pvp based or not, is pvp & griefing allowed in the starter zones or against players under a certain level, at this point in the alpha Stephen has told us some of the PVP limiters are not on place, so this has been honor based up til now, but I'm betting it will be in place when next weekends Alpha test is live.

  6. It would actually be super easy for asmon to play the game without being affected by his streamer status. Just create a character with a different name and don't stream while playing.

  7. I'm getting mixed vibes from Steven and Intrepid. Looking at the corruption system i can't help but ask myself why not remove open world pvp if you are going to lean so heavily on punishing players? Here its the same thing as they want to allow players to kill on spawn while banning whoever does it lol Because contrary to what Asmon says its taking these half measures that kills a mmo, since they each have a different audience and you cannot appeal to everyone.

  8. PTR Update Notes – Wednesday, November 13

To help new characters, we’ve added an opt-in to PvP safety option. This is available to non-combatants that are level 5 or lower, in the starting areas

  9. Hello. You said you kill players to test how much stronger your character has become. Let's not forget that most of the AoC world will be in open ‘pvp’ zones, so there will be no PK as such
This is alpha, I assume that the starting zones will still be protected from pvp after this case (although is there such a mechanic in the game at all?) But I really hope that it will not be spread to the starting nodes)

  10. The introduction of a designated "red zone" within the game could provide players with an area of increased risk and reward. This zone would be characterized by a lack of traditional rules and regulations, allowing players to engage in more dangerous activities with the potential for greater rewards. Players entering this zone would be fully aware of the risks involved and would be expected to exercise caution and strategic decision-making. Additionally, implementing a level cap restriction between players and their targets could further enhance the risk-reward dynamic, ensuring that players are appropriately matched in terms of skill and experience.
