With the latest livestream Steven Sharif finally revealed the intricate mechanics involved with content delivery in Ashes of Creation. In Today’s video we’ll be discussing the potential of this information and trying to see if it really is as in depth as they claim it is.
Hey boiz, I hope you don’t mind but I took a couple of days off to relax! I ended up playing Grounded for anyone interested, yes the game is terrifying and I highly recommend it! If it has ranked pvp with titles at the end of season, I'm in.
Obvious Algo boosting comment.
I had pre typed my comment
“How is this any different from GW2?”
Then I sat thru the whole video and a little past the halfway mark I deleted the comment and figured I’d wait until the end and then discuss the innovation. What you described is still exactly like GW2. You mentioned the way GW2 handles events isn’t new player friendly but then give an example of the volcano being there for veteran players. I see pillars of smoke in old world Tyria all the time that lead me to new events I’ve never seen before. Did I miss something in your video? It still seems exactly the same as GW2. Which I like, but still….
Your mum, lmao.
Your intro scripts and production are on point. Had a good laugh or two
If I go to a node and see a lumber yard I want to interact with it for logging or something of that type. The node system can provide visuals for what that node offers. They could have town criers for audio cues.
You gotta bring a suit with you for that intro, for the immersion.
yo, this is exactly the game ive been looking for to sink the next 10-15 years of my adult life into.
I think the way as you described in the video is the best way. Make dynamic world events unmissable, but with visual and audio cues instead of notifications. Basically how Elden Ring does it with their open world, only then in a mmorpg setting.
Narc your getting disgusting with your YouTube. Your green screen work is top notch!! Loving the content!!
My Mum wishes she could get such a strapping young man with such a pizza box asset!
This has to be my favorite skit😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm still waiting for something as fulfilling as everquest. Still waiting.
narc daddy 🥰
Sea of thieves does this kind of audio and visual cue system really well.
I love Dynamic events! I bought a new gaming laptop. So i'm rdy to go!
My mom is a wonderful woman who's extremely lonely and needs love in her life… You be good to her Narc… You be good to her
events that you can hear with NW style sound design would actually be amazing
"One of my favorite passtimes, your mom ;)" XD I started laughing so hard!
I like the approach to using visual and sound design to make events, but it's easier said than done. With the unreal 5 engine, I have hope that they can pull it off, but I won't count my chickens before they hatch. Would be cool though if they went full Jurassic Park and being in a rainforest/swamp you start hearing big thumps, trees rustling, and iconic roars as a bunch of goblins/trolls ride a world-boss T-Rex and raid at a local city node. No notification artificially plastered into the chat/HUD, just visual and audio queues like, "Trolls are raiding the north gate, send for help!" Equally interesting if these "raids" can destroy player houses and certain buildings in the node if not protected well enough.
We don’t deserve this content lololololol!!! I WAS RAISED BY THE COPIUM 🔥😂
I disagree a bit with the statement that the GW2 vanilla content is dead. I regularly do BL key farms and I almost always run into a few other people leveling in the zones or doing events. I think the vanilla content doesn't see a ton of engagement from level 80s because of how the progression works and how easy it is to get new max level characters and gear, so most people can stay in the most recent meta content.
I can’t wait for this game in 2028
I … somehow think you must have had as much fun making this video as I have watching it! Thank you for putting a continous smile on my face 😀 Another thumbs up for your creativity!
All AOC areas/zones NEED to stay relevant throughout the life of the game!! GW2 opening new areas of the map with new events did leave most old areas abandoned. Some events can't even be done because no one does the event anymore so that's a Great point and a lesson for Intrepid to learn. NO areas/zones in Vera should ever be left abandoned because the content there is outdated. All the player base eventually migrating to a so-called end game area on the map would make the rest of the world lifeless and useless. Now, this is different from having a chance of a super rare item or items in a certain dungeon on a certain island. We need a frequently fought over spots for sure BUT the rest of Vera still needs to be relevant. The idea is to have ALL materials, however received or acquired, remain relevant from start to endgame. Use low level materials to help craft endgame potions, foods, armor or weapons, repair degraded armor/weapons, and assist in node development. You basically ensure all materials, at every level in the game, are ALWAYS needed in some sort of way. Scatter these materials all over Vera to keep all the zones relevant. This would allow new or low-level players the ability to contribute to node development and to a Guild at all times.
Love your content narc. Keep it comin! Yep
Subbed because you're a riot.
This copium epidemic has been harsh man.
Pizza Fort must be rebuilt!
GW2 old content is still packed with players, mostly new ones at that i was surprised when i logged in after years away, felt good.
I'd love if more mmos took over GW2 event's system
Also you're comparing wow's dozens of world quests with GW2's THOUSANDS of events that spawn everywhere
Just remembered that Sea of Thieves had an interesting event notification system. Certain clouds would look like skulls and what not and you could sail toward them to find events.
I don't think you need any big indicators for world events, all you need is for the world events not to be static and waiting in an area for the player but rather be proactive and actually invade cities seek out caravans etc. You hit the players they will hit back.
While i’ll always play WoW because i have since i was 8 years old & am just in love with the world of Azeroth & her lore..
I AM foaming at the mouth over Ashes 🖤🤤
I like the way they are planning on doing it. Visuals and sound are very important to nail it and make it work.
A streamer I watch has a couple of devs that hang out regularly during the stream. By what has been teased I do think the artisan system is going to blow us away when it's explained/shown. He is sure excited about it to say the least.
Great intro 😀
I am very excited about the event system. The potential is huge and if they can come up with cool content it will be a big hit. Regarding notifications, I think that the visual and audio effects are a cool idea to let the player know that something is happening. As I understand the spawning of an event can also take quite some time. Maybe days or weeks. First you see some corruption in the area that spreads out over time(days) until suddenly some kind of monster emerges from underground to attack the village. It also forces the player base to work together more and notify others about what you just saw or heard riding through a particular area. I think there will be many different kind of events with different spawn timers and indicators. If they are creative, which i think they are, this can be very fun!
they should tie player activity into there timer for example everytime players harvest a tree the timer for like a treant attack invent reduces by 1 second on there timer so if players clear 200 tree they drop they advance the timer bu 200 seconds for example. Will make it harder players to time the event happening too.
