A rebuttal to Eris' take on the Summoner not being able to play a main role since it's not as good a tank as a full tank (as an example) – in NW some of the best and preferred tanks for end game, m10 mutated dungeons and speed runs were not the weapon set up that one would consider the main tank gear (sword and shield). What were primarily dps weapons such as the spear and the rapier, with the right spec and gear, were capable of being the best tanks in the game. High survivability and good agro control due to the higher dps. This may or not end up the case with the Summoner, but you can't rule it out at this point at all.
having each class be unique or have unique skills or abilities will make groups have to have a variety of classes so that they can take advantage of all the different perks of each class. it will make each player feel like they are important to their group. unlike ESO, where it feels like you can do everything with every class basically to some extent.
mafia guilds are cancer dont reward them so much.
Some players might prefer to be on low pop servers. They are basically pve at that point.
Great show.
Regarding the summoner, and bard, jack of all trades usually comes with "master on none", they are not main anything but the are useful in certain cases.
I love playing hybrids, and they can 100% save group for a wipe, that's where a jack of all trades become desirable for parties, because no matter how good you are, you will mess up.
The key is balancing it, the way I see it, if you have access to summons with different roles, you should have to put skill point into these separate summons, which would take away from other aspects.
On top of that keep in mind that ashes is supposed to be balanced in a way that a perfect party contains 1 of every archetype.
The measure I would never take, is removing the possibility of taking an hybrid.
What a cool ep by having multiple ppl come up to the call!
58:08 You said it!!! This is my worry too. Individuals being so attached to their characters that if a metropolis siege, PK or caravan haul fail occurs; someone who devoted hours into getting a mansion, transitioning resourses or losing a legendary piece of gear might quit.
Nyce! Love the take on summoner resurrection! Maybe both summers and clerics get resurrect. Maybe both summoners and tanks get a shield wall / minion body block.
Some of the “Jack of all trades” thing can work out well I think. Especially with the one caller concerned about finding Tanks And Healers to make the perfect party.
If we can get a summoner and bard to help fill a role, and then maybe a few X/Tank and X/Cleric in the party we can still accomplish a lot of content. Maybe not the biggest end game raid bosses. But it’s not like that is an everyday party thing anyways.
Solo players find a way. It is entirely possible to see Solo Guilds pop up. Nobody has to say a thing or play together, just be open to announcements/notifications by whoever is running it like subscribing to a small newspaper, and then all members do their own thing while enjoying the benefits of the Guild upgrades/buildings/bonuses/etc. They just trust the GM to keep them notified of major updates and making good selections for the size of the guild, maybe stop by a guild chest to trade items.
Even still, in Ashes I think itll be hard to trade or get the good stuff like top tier mounts in Ashes without at least interacting in Chat.
Alternately, we might see just small groups of like 8 players, Solos or friend groups, forming a tiny guild and using the family system to its fullest. People will get by however they can if they love the game and only use chat.
Congratz on the big 5-0, for a game that doesn't exist 🙂
Everquest did tanks the best. Balanced groups are needed for success.
