at 1hour 34min: as someone that has 12k hours in RUST, I think it comes down to mental toughness. Even though some groups might dominate in certain aspects, open world games have a vast opportunity for different styles. Imagination (for me) is key. Think outside the box. Sometimes you cant be RAMBO but you might be able to be SOLID SNAKE.
I am going to say a lot of stuff bit by bit in this chat as it comes up. Tutorials should they have them. Yes not all games on creating things are the same or skinning or dodging, you get the idea. Your whole life was a tutorial on how to make it in the real world what did you think school was (if you went and if you learned), what do you think the streets are? If you want to learn from the Tutorial or skip it that is up to you just like if you want to learn in school or sleep in class. And even if they did not have a tutorial you know that there are going to be people that will make YT walkthrough's on how to do things for the dummies that say they dont need them or the ones that really need them.
Nodes and which ones will people want. I think if the game is done right that each area will have something that can only be gotten at that area sea food at the coast, salt at the desert, ore in the mountains. It will come down to the same thing that it comes down to in RL, what it is that you have vs what it is that people want. If they have what you want they will come and try to take it from you. So if coastal nodes are the in thing then there might be a lot of fighting over them.
I will laugh if people pay money to place wanted posters out for someone so that they can have a whole server looking for one guy so they can stream snip them. You know " Have you seen so and so paying 50 gold to tell me where they are "
Combat pets: I go back to Guild Wars. Have them only for Rangers and Druids main or 2nd class. Any skills for additional damage will need to be skills the player will have on their skill bar. So having a Combat Pet that smokes out some game for you to kill or tanking a monster is good. But maybe nothing in PVP, they can add a DOT or a stun if they get luckily but not a lot of damage
Summons be they mages or necros or druids, what ever I would hate to have it to where they where just there for a short 10 sec and then gone. Guild Wars had the Minion Masters in there good. You could create undead but they would slowly die. The higher level you could create the longer it took to die, you had skills that you could use some of your health to top them off if need or even steal all of their health to top you off, or even blow them up. Then they had another build that all it did was when you got swarmed by minions you could hit the skill and take control of them. There is nothing funnier then watching someone with 10 minions of high level lose control of all of them and they turn to attack their old master and kill him.
The guy who said Blue Shell comment seems to be WOKE. He wants something for nothing and I dont want to play a game where you work hard at something to have it taken from you by someone with a blue shell luckily hit. I can see if it is some race game for some holiday game but not in the world in general.
The no lifers vs the PTW. The person that does not have a job can stay at home and get everything done and do the content over and over again till they get the good drop. The person with the job will then PTW with cash shop items or use Real Money to buy things off of the No Lifers to keep up with everyone else. This happens in the Real World it will happen in the game. There will be sites where No Lifers or "China Bots" will sell anything that is not bound to account.
PKing I think should be a % of damage done within a time limit to get you flagged. Example you do 10% PVP damage to me then I run to a boss to kill me while you are running off and I die then you get corrupted if you attacked me 1st.
I think a lot of people dont take on the chats any more because there are so many nasty toxic people out there saying nasty thing. I am not talking about the ones that say you are a fat fck that lives in the basement of your moms house. I am talking about the ones the use the N word or start race wars in chat. Then you have the other side of the coin where there are so many woke people that get their "feels" hurt that they cant even take any kind of hazing or trash talk and try to get you banned by reporting you and having all their woke friends report you. So people just clam up or stay in a very tight group of people. Because you know they will record something and then show only what they want to be seen and put it on the internet for everyone else to see and take it out of context. It does not happen all the time, but when it does it will burn you to the core.
