Yeah, I have no idea why devs make an mmo that looks like it's from 2009. And the whole "well, we're just sacrificing aesthetics for better gameplay" argument is just an excuse. You don't need to sacrifice good graphics for gameplay. You can have both.

your description tagging is bdo. AoC is still a scam, they literally committed felony fraud in California. They pocketed the money and then made an arena game with same name. Steam and other groups forced them to raise more money but the game is still amateur mode on animation and combat as you pointed out. There was a far better building system in a 2000 era game that got eclipsed by WoW. You could play a dragon, the game is still around. But that crafting is 10x what you see in this game. Imo the combat isnt too bad, it's on par with gw2 and other mmos, the WoW comparison was hilariously true though lmao. Kinda curious as to how the building stuff works though since there'll be thousands of people that'll play this game and I dont think it's big enough for everyone to build houses etc. I got low expectations but maybe it'll be decent on 2030.

I think the recent Ranger showcase showed an update to combat that looked way better than in the past.
To be honest, as much as I like BDO combat, I like something a little more grounded. The turbo zooming bullshit in BDO where the servers barely keep up with animations and movement gets a little old.

Yea, combat is still my greatest concern. I still think I'll end up playing the game if the other systems work out but it's been a little sad that they won't push the combat.
