No to looting dead bodies and all this xp loss for new players and then looting their bodies this game will be DOA as its to punishing there's a reason we progressed from the dark ages of games to remove such systems because its not tolerable to new players, a pvp game with out new players is a dead pvp game, there should be pvp free safe zones so new players can learn the game and level safely up to at least level 30, i hear when ur max level u don't have all the xp loss on death so that nice for them but ppl need to learn and to be punished for it constantly well gl with ur game and that i say that's a huge fail and lack of foresight of modern gaming.
Or make pve servers and pvp servers. Griefing is part of the mmo open world pvp. Dont like it dont play it. If you implement rules in pvp… might aswell play world of warcraft. The solution is easy… dont play pvp if your not ready for the heat.
Again incorrect information. If u get killed by a player u drop some of your crafting materials. Maybe you should do a video on the corruption system and how it works.
Honestly this game needs some safe zones, for me makes no sense a lvl 1 area to be pvp, at that level you will be doing quests or leveling, learning the game, there should be non pvp areas until lvl 8-10 at least
I'm reading though this comments and i see no one from u ever played Lineage2 this is exact same system and getting killed at lvl 1 is just ppl don't have anything better to do as far as i see it only goes to lvl 25 atm so ppl will still me around this starting area's while the game will progress ppl will forget about it or simple they could have a buff that a low lvl player till lvl 20 can take this buff if he doesn't wanna be targeted in pvp
If this game comes out with only open world pvp it will die immediately. The best Mmorpgs have pvp limited to arenas and battlegrounds. Definitely should take inspiration from games like WoW, GW2, Ff14, New world, SWTOR when it comes to your game
There is no need for areas in the 1-10 range to be PvP enabled. But it is a PvP mmo, streamers are going to be targeted… just how it is.
Looting corpses is not grifing. You are lucky to keep 50% of your materials. Getting 25% back after that is even more lucky if you can.
Griefing in a PvP game? No Way!!!! hehehe
What happened to Asmongold was greifing and Steven banned several people for it. But your claim that this is rampant in the game is false. Also when someone does this the loot isnāt free, they gain corruption which is very costly. Maybe you address this later in the video, Iāll listen and see.

Also Asmongold saying itās unplayable isnāt accurate. He is in a unique position to be sure but with big visibility he will always have to roll deep with a powerful guild. Solo play is probably not an option for him but the games systems do have a mechanism for him to play successfully.
Asmon deserves to be ganked.
His narcissistic personality makes him a prime target.
We dont need him or his cultists in Ashes.
Good job gankers!ā¤
In my experience not all want the same experience(s), and the same ones all the time when playing a game. I wonder if having said safe zones not ban PvP all together but have a system(s)/choice(s)/etc. be in place where all parties involved are prompted at some point(s), in some way(s), to consent (even if consenting is the act of logging onto the game if it is understood by that person that there is, to whatever degree, pvp and they may experience it without intentionally initiating it on something like pvp servers etc.) would be a satisfactory solution(s) for some people? Perhaps that is what the corruption system is/is intended to do/is supporting? Perhaps you could have servers that don't have a corruption system…or one(s) that is/are different and/or either more severe or less severe (for those that don't mind and/or enjoy ganking/griefing to be allowed)? In my experience(s)/observation(s) the warmode system, daily and/or one time pvp quests, having areas being under attack/known to be popular/encouraged/designed/intended/allowed/etc. to be for open world pvp interactions, dueling, other pvp content, and/or pvp servers etc. in World of Warcraft seemed to offer solution(s) to similar/same issues. I personally have been enjoying the alpha a lot, all of the pvp pve pvevp interactions to some degree, sometimes for different reasons, and sometimes with others, thus far. Based off my observations I think those involved in/connected to it etc. care about the game and its players too. I sincerely thank those that have worked/been a part of this because (one reason being that) I've enjoyed playing AoC Alpha.
I'm on the side of PirateSoftware on this one. I think drama and zerging around for all kinds of reasons is one of the greatest features in this game. I love it even more with the corruption system because now when some mage had the first shot advantage at me I just let him take my mats, and then I came back and took his chestpiece because he was corrupted and being an archer I stealthed in for first shot advantage this time. But that leads me to the nuance part of this. I think it is fun BECAUSE I can come back and contest that player to get my stuff back or even better, take their stuff in return. Zerging a lvl 1 player like this for no reason at all, utilizing information you shouldn't be having to begin with, there's no contest in that, there's no rivalries that spark from that. The only thing that will happen is the game has 1 less player and the future of the game declines. Let them grow to have a chance and then have fun fighting them for real, that's where the game shines.
As for the 5 minute timer, might be a bit on the high end for my taste, nobody wants to stand there for 5 minutes drooling waiting to claim the spoils of war. There being a timer I'm not explicitly against, because again, it allows the player to come back and contest that lootbag before it becomes claimable. That is fun. But I think there should be either a timer barely long enough for that player to return and grab it, so they can't sneak around trying to avoid PvP to claim it, or a more complex system where it becomes some kind of king of the hill minigame where you can mark it to start a timer and the player can't pick it up either unless they mark it for themselves for a set amount of time and it becomes a bit of a King of the Hill system for the lootpile like that. What I don't think is good is a system where a player takes a boatload of risks in all the corruption and potentially even blight they build up, and then there's rarely a pay-off because a player has enough time to just come and grab it and run off again for free. That just means PvP dies in your game right then and there, players don't put up with all risk no reward. Even if it's just a one-sided timer but you give the bag a 5-10 second channel time right so you have to break out of stealth and give the other player the opportunity to contest you that'd be better than just letting you run off unseen avoiding conflict altogether.
I called it. If these devs think the way they made PvP is the right way they got another thing coming
It's funny people waited so long for a game thats going to suck this hard.
Doomed? It's literally alpha 2 like3 years from launch xD
Maybe make the starting zones PvE zones, or make players below level 10 not drop anything when they die, but if you kill someone below 10 you still get corruption. That way you have nothing to gain from it. From what i understand, you only risk something by doing that. Stream sniping should be against ToS and when it becomes obvious like in the Asmon case, send a video to Steven and the boys and they can ban the people doing it for 7 days or so. Then Iām sure people will stop greifing lowlevels.
Common sense solutions are coming soon. No-PVP in starter area and/or no PVP below level 5. Looting an innocent corpse will flag you as combattant so there's risk/reward. Both features were stated by Steven to be in soon.
I personally hope town centers will also be PVP-off so you don't get sniped just trying to make a trade and lose 25-50% of mats, even if the guards kill them afterwards.
Other than that, the corruption system is extremely harsh and working fine imo. Asmon is an extreme edge case. Even other big streamers like Esfand with 5-10k viewers played to level 10+ no problem.
I'm lvl 16, played a lot all 3 weekends and didn't get attacked once. Came across 1 red player that I killed, that's it. If anything, it may be a little too harsh, but for an alpha i'd much rather they err on the side of very harsh penalties, since people won't care about their loot/XP because of the upcoming wipe.
They should put a level / money based system in. For the first 5 levels you cant be killed or kill. that being said, If your inventory is worth X amount even under level 5 then you become killable (prevents people from making new characters to move money around risk free)
