  1. lol, hilarious intro! It'll be interesting to see how they make scribing/enchanting add more depth to the game… it would be cool to have a sword inscribed with a fire glyph to make it deal extra fire damage, for example. I definitely don't want RNG crap where your items may break or be destroyed entirely.

  2. Intro was the best!

Scribing in UO was fun. they would make magic scrolls that had boosted success chance and damage.
They could also copy player created written books.

  3. Great intro, they keep getting better and better, also UwU.

Enchanting in Lineage ][ was very similar to BDO. You needed an item called "scroll of enchantment" that would be consumed when used and it would enchant a selected item by 1. You could enchant items to +3 with 100% chance, above that they had a chance to break and you would lose the item. There were also "blessed scrolls of enchantment" that would return your item to +0 upon failure instead. Those were rare drops from open world bosses. In the later expansions they added more p2w options. Enchanting weapons added a colorful flare to the weapon that would signify the weapons enchantment, it was a way to tell how strong someone was. Enchanting armor sets to specific breakpoints gave you extra stats – in later expansions they added flare to the armors as well.

I am not sure how well a system like that would be received by a western audience in 2021 onwards.

  4. Man that intro though. XD. Another one of my favourite profession about which i am really curious. For scrolls ashes can make quests so that you have to complete those quests to attain a blueprint to make a specific scroll. The better the blueprint and the scroll the more challenging the quest. It would be good.

  5. About vertical enchants, from what i heard you can enchant to +3 without the item breaking, then the chance of breaking slowly increases from there up to +12 or +15. I really hope I can just got to +5 or +6 and not feel very underpowered compared to a +15

  6. Another smashing intro! The only viable use for scribing that I can see would be to create a scroll that is consumed upon use. This would lead to an increased demand for raw materials to scribe scrolls thereby keeping the gathering and processing of basic materials alive in the game.
It will be interesting to see how they implement this aspect of gameplay.

  7. Loved the intro. It reminded me of another system in Project Gorgon called Words of Power. They are crafted with the Lore skill but instead of being difficult to level it's more of that mats are difficult to get in mass quantities other level Level 0 Word of Power which only requires crab meat. They are kind of neat cause you literally have to type the word into chat in order to use it and it's a one time use. The game has a built-in notepad so you can save your words of power there. (Yes you can sell those words to other players but the only ones I think people would trust would be the teleportation ones if they need immediately and probably not even then. The valuable ones are the curse cure ones. Still, means you can use on an alt if needed.)

They are really useful even at the lowest level as each tier does different stuff. Level 0 can let you teleport to different starter regions for example and are their main use. Higher ones can give you combat buffs, movement buffs such as self-flight and faster running speed, instant XP such as +1000 Alchemy XP, self-resurrection, curing certain animal form curses such as pig or deer, instant healing, more inventory (a godsend) and even implanting a slug, evil spirit or a couple other things into yourself that will spawn a temporary minion if you have enough health for it otherwise it will kill you. (It's temporary in that it will disappear if you die, leave the dungeon or leave the region.) There's a few negative ones but if you've played the game the most useful one is Word of Death (instantly die) so even a negative one is useful in some circumstances.

They are gained randomly when you craft the word of power so you can't just power level Alchemy that way and honestly it's cheaper to just level it the regular way as an example. It's still a fun and useful mechanic to take advantage of when you can afford the materials for it.

Would be pretty dope though if AOC created something similar with scribing where you could craft useful one-use spell scrolls which you did mention in the video. Although it would be cool if it was beyond just simply combat buffs.
