In the recent world event stream for MMO Ashes Of Creation, the developers spoke about different ways to ensure the ability to obtain loot. I feel ​⁠​⁠​⁠​⁠@isth3reno1else had a brilliant idea on the fly to perfectly solve this problem in our recent Voices Of Verra AOC Podcast. The issue is most modern games have perhaps too simple a solution such as damage done which often neglects support roles who were perhaps the MOST vital to the groups success. I feel the proposed concept in this video solves this.

  1. The only negative I see is that all "threats" are not the same. Threats from taunts, threats from direct damage, and passive threats from healing need to be handled differently. A dps does more damage than a tank, a tank should have the highest threats of the group, and a healer will have the least amount of threat. So, one blanket table with triggers will not work.

  2. I wonder if the typical stats that you find in an addon like Details van be given stat weights that when added together, make a total count. Some actions can't be quantified enough to get a good picture, such as being only doing cc but if they cause threat then the threat can be a multiplier toward your score.

    The problem has me thinking though. It's definitely a tricky problem.

Yeah, great idea to use threat but you could also do each role has their own metric, as if you create x amount of threat your good, if you do x% of the dps you get reward, or if you do x% of healing for the fight you get loot. IK would be easier to do just pure threat but I feel like some builds will create less threat overall and still do good damage.

  4. Nice, but there is not always one tank in the event, raid etc. Should a main tank get a better loot than off-tank or those extra newby tanks that joined the event that cant keep up with DPS damage vise or that cant get agro because either:
    a) Main tank gets all of it
    b) if he tries to get an agro he might mess up entire raid group

    To be truthful, a lot of players dont roll tanks in mmos so this might not even be an issue.
