Ashes of Creation is something I’ve been asked to look into by many people but I just hadn’t gotten around to it. However, on one of my recent streams, I reviewed AoC’s Melee and Ranged combat, as well as an overview video summarizing everything the game has to offer. oh no its tab targeting? o.O
Personally, I think if there are people who say the game is "Upright Bad", they either don't know anything about the MMORPG genre. Or certain companies have started to use false/botter accounts to make them appear less successful, changing people's views from positive to negative. This isn't new, and certainly not in the business industry. Twitter and Reddit have been changing people's minds for years now. That and it won't cost you more than 10 dollars to buy yourself 500 followers or positive comments on any social media including youtube. Bot accounts have been a tool in online business for a long time.
What do bigger gaming companies do when their own products aren't as strong as they had hoped, and someone else decides to up the bar? (without p2w as well). When you cant level with someone, all you can do to compete is try to take them down. That is what is to be expected, and that's the double edge sword effect of being this open about development. However, since Intrepid isn't as dependent on investors/backers the positive effects are far greater.
This is still Alpha, people take it like the game is going to officially release next week.
Do you want to know how New World looked in Alpha ?. Because at release, it was pure shit. And it's still pure shit to this day today, not to mention that New World isn't actually a True MMORPG. AoC Alpha 2 is far greater than New World 1 year into its Release. Not just Gameplay design but Graphically speaking as well.

I can't say enough how awesome it is that Steven has the same adhd approach to playing games as me lolololol.
I will be using soft lock and not tab targeting. Guild wars 2 and ESO did this right. Tab targeting is not as engaging and straight boring.
So around 13:30 where you are talking about weapon and class.
I think weapons are dictated by class. There’s 64 options.
You have a primary class, and a secondary class. Your primary class will probably dictate weapons that are available to you while the secondary is probably like utility.
So let’s take the Ranger class. You pick summoner as a secondary and you become a Falconer.
So you are basically the equivalent of a WoW hunter.
I can see the Ranger being able to use the different bows, crossbows or spear. So there will be some difference and choice of the character, maybe your secondary class allows for additional weapons.
It looks like to me that Ashes of Creation really is an amalgamation of all the great MMOs out there.
I really hope it succeeds.
